so, when I die, I lose all of my cash, and guns. is that a script in the mod to copy the old GTA style that the games originally started? Or is it because I have steam saved to my D drive instead of my C?

You'll lose all the money only if you have 10 000$ or less - that's the amount you have to pay for death. I have no idea what's up with guns though, you shouldn't lose them after dying. Does it happen every time?
I got it figured out. script error... apparently when I bought the ultimate edition I didn't realize I had the game already from the THQ bankruptcy sale. the mods somehow duplicated a script.
