This screen shot... I don't even... what? MORE DLC?!

I'm worried about rushing because THQ is having further money issues, and the Saints Row games are becoming a big portion of their revenue. So they'll want to milk what they can out of it now. Ontop of that, the CEO said that they understand the game will be better if they give it more time.

Now, how many nodded and went "Ah, good.. it's going to get more time!"?

You're optimists, who seem to forget how this works. What he said is they understand more time = better product. Notice he didn't say if it WOULD get more time. The "Expansion Pack" got "more time" by becoming part of a game that's presumably out next year. I hope they push it back a bit, because they're making a full game in that time. In theory some of the work was already done, what with them having done work on it, but most likely everyone at Volition has ramped up production for this thing (some parts were probably working on it, while some did DLC spam)... meaning that they've been working and know their stuff, but will have to do more. Remember, SR3 is based on the prior engine, with overhauls... but at the same time it lost a fair bit to it, probably due to time crunches (everyone wants to make a far bigger game, but you settle for what you can finish)

Perhaps I'm a pessimist, but quite simply a developer is rarely the one to set a release deadline.. if given enough time I have no doubt Volition could pull off something as good as SR2 but with better graphics than SR3. What worries me is they won't get the chance, because of executive meddling and forced plot shifts and such mixing with the short timeframe. Maybe they'll pull it off, SR3 was a good game, although no SR2.

I'm a pessimist, but when I end up overshooting results to look optimistic, you kinda lose faith in things. I just hope I'm gonna be proven wrong and this will be a good game coming up, worrying plot ideas aside.

well yeah, but to what extent? From what I've heard SR2's engine is almost identical to SR1's, while SR3 feels a bit different.
It's an interesting hybrid of SR2 and their RF:A engine, plus some things that are entirely unique.

And SR2 and 1 does have a noticable difference. The characters for one. Much more detailed faces. And also the surroundings.
