I' just discovered this sticky.
Great post.
In process of slowly and over time, going thru it. If I see something I think you might add I'll comment or send a PM in future rather than clutter
this thread overly much.
In the meantime noticed this:
Black screen or crash after the AMD logo, copyright notice, or difficulty selection
solution: This is sometimes fixed by verifying the game cache files. Also try running the game in a window. If that doesn't help, make sure your video drivers and motherboard chipset drivers are current. If that doesn't help, i have no idea.
I may have missed it elsewhere in the FAQ so far so forgive me if I did .
I spend a lot of time on Steam and Volition's board and have noted MANY posts with similar description of the above .
In most cases I've seen (not all for sure) it was because the poster was using a system below the minimum specs as stated
on Volition's board, usually a user of a video card that just is not up to the task.
So maybe add something along those lines and a link to Volition's forum post listing the min and RECOMMENDED system.
Sadly, STEAM has the MINIMUM required listed on the sales page. A very sad thing.
Maybe include a link to passmarks site it seems there is a whole generation of people incapable of figuring out what their hardware is
in relation to stated specs posted by software companies.

With that info, they have a chance to make a decision that may be right when comparing intentionally confusing VId Card part numbers.
EDIT: Read rest of Graphics section.
In my gaming experience (since the 80's) with PC's of various capacity I'd
have to say the first 4 or so symptoms listed are usually associated with
using a Video card that is not up to the minimum required OR a card that
has suffered a hardware fault due to stress. (heaT).
Also, of course the
inevitable driver issues that can occur . The other suggestions you list are also possibles.
But based on my experience, I'd point my unforgiving thumb at hardware limitations.
I suggest a link in that section to Volition's well stated min and RECOMENDED
specs and as I mentioned above, perhaps a link to a site like Passmark.
