Unable to load or start new game

I played SR2 back in July, and it worked fine, now I can't start or load any game. Whenever I select the 'continue' or 'new game' options in the main menu the game instantly crashes, with an access violation error (screenshot attached).

I am on Windows 10, Steam version. As far as I know nothing on my PC has changed since I last played.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I've tried both with and without GOTR, with and without DXVK 2.4, with and without SR2: Juiced.

I have no idea what to try now. Any ideas?

This looks like a drivers issue to me. Have you upgraded/dowgraded drivers recently? If windows updates are set to automatic the system might have silently done so.

I had not knowingly updated any drivers, or made any changes to my PC since the game last worked. I have updated my drivers now, but still getting the same error.

I've tried disabling the Steam overlay, compatibility mode, run as admin. Nothing has worked.

I'm sorry to say that this might require a windows reinstall. Forgive me if you have already tried this. I am not certain if
you mean that your have uninstalled and reinstalled the game or if you mean that you have reinstalled windows.

I'll admit I'm guessing right now but it's possible that system restore, or whatever its called on Windows 10, may have silently replaced a system dll or something from it's file cache.

I'm a linux user and only run 7 for gaming so I'm sorry if I don't have the folder names correct.

I would imagine he meant reinstalling the game. I can't imagine the issue's that bad that it would require a full Windows reinstall.

Have you tried downgrading any drivers? (I'm no PC expert btw.)
