What does CID do?

I've Called him twice before. Both times I've never seen him do anything other then float and complement me on a good job of whoopin' Zin ass. I thought maybe he'd be like the other CIDs and Create a force field around me.
 
He's the robot character. Every si-fi video game has one. Don't question it, just... let... let it be.
 
CID flirts with fun Shaundi and puts down veteran child. other than that he hasn't had an impact when I invite him to play.
 
Anyway, does CID actually stand for anything? It looks like an abbreviation.

As for CID itself (himself?), it/he really should have SPOILER: >>been encased in a murderbot armour instead of a floating ball reminiscent of GLaDOS.<< /SPOILER :p
