Why I hate the Saints row fanbase, Part II. (rant)

What upset me the most is that twelve hours after the trailer dropped, I woke up to find that there are still people making comments in poor taste, connecting IdolNinja's death to death of the franchise.

The SR community does not feel like a very nice place to be in at the moment, for me at least anyway :(

Im new to saints row but even I can see why a lot of people are hating on this. The real problem here you literally went from badass gangsters to college hipsters who look like they drink Starbucks everyday. And yes from the looks of it it seems like they are trying to appeal to the fortnite base. They completely disregarded everything people loved about the game and threw it in the trash.

I'm not saying change in games is bad but you still need to keep the identity. Look at the latest god of war for example, completely different gameplay style but the narrative is still there. Also if there's no sign of gat at all in the game then that would just be disappointing. That would be like playing the new cod modern warfare without price.

I'm still hoping the gameplay is fun and who knows maybe theres some great character development throughout the story but by the looks of it it looks like volition never learned a thing and sticking with the corny ass bullshit saints row 3 and 4 formula. Ive never even played 1 and 2 but just lookign at the cutscenes already shows me it was much better

God, This new trailer for the saints row reboot. not what i wanted. i wanted a continuation of 4s insanity. but i understand that a more grounded style is what people want.

....and the fandom still hates it. what the fuck do they want.
i'm gonna give the reboot a chance. it might not have been what i wanted after 4, but this fanbase disappoints me immensely.
volition didnt kill the franchise, 2k didn't kill this franchise. saints row 4s insanity didnt kill the franchise. in the end my point has been proven. this fandom is rivalling the sonic fandom with how bad it is. this fandom, is what murdered saints row.

I'm a saint since the second game, like many of you. and to see this fandoms reaction disgusts me. especially since it went in a more grounded direction than 4. like everyone wanted. and they are still mad it didn't go far enough. but i said before, ill give it a chance. i highly advise everyone give this reboot a chance if you wish this franchise to continue. volition are good folks.
or don't, either way, my cynicism for this fandom has just been confirmed.

the saddest thing is, we havent seen anything regarding gameplay, city design, or the story beyond a single cutscene and were already judging this book by it's cover.
The problem is that they made the characters be a fucking wankers.

I think the fault lies with the fans just as much as the devs. For the most part, noone could agree what they liked about the series, and just saying it's because of quirky characters isn't very helpful. Hence a game that feels more like Watchdogs than GTA with none of the feeling of freedom and carnage that comes with the Saints Row name. It also doesn't help that we've only received a colorful cutscene that fails to elaborate on anything which is a trap people have fallen into with several titles now such as Cyberpunk and the new Far Cry.

What on earth are you talking about? More grounded my ass. They went a complete 180. It's no longer gangsters, it's hipsters. When the trailer first debuted my first impression was that it was Watch Dogs game, not a Saints Row game.

This new release has utterly tarnished the franchise in its entirety and the fanbase will never be able to recover from this. Saints Row 4 was a the nail in the coffin and this game was the dirt piled on top.

And with that, I bid this series good day to you, sir.
100% agree, Saints row 4 was not grounded at all, a total mess terrible, the worst saints row game in the series. The true saint's row games are 1 and 2, I loved saints row 3 since I grew up with it got it when I was in 3rd grade when it first came out. I have to admit visiting 1 and 2, even 3 missed a lot of what saints row was about.

I started with SR3, then SR2, then SR4, then GooH, and then Agents of Mayhem. TBH, I loved each one in its own way. I'm truly excited to see what the new game has to offer. I'll be honest, the trailer ... didn't really do it for me. But when I started to read articles and read what the devs wrote, I really could get on board with what they're trying to do, and now I'm really excited for this game.

I'll tell you what really disappoints me though. This fanbase ... man, no matter WHAT the devs did, half this fanbase was going to hate it. Seriously.

Like Agents of Mayhem. I actually liked AoM. I realize it wasn't perfect, but I felt it didn't get the chance it deserved. It seemed like most of the fans hated the whole idea.

You just can’t please everyone. They could’ve literally said, ‘OK everything beyond SR2 is now non-canon, this game is the new SR3 and will follow the same tone of SR2’, it would piss people off.

Trying to please everyone leads to madness. It cannot be done.

You asked for an SR2 tone game and it seems like you got it. Saints Row is a mix of SR2 mechanics and SR3 wackiness. There will be some more gameplay today so just wait
