Worth the risk?

I think the joke was he was implying he pirated it, or something.

I concede I did pirate SR2. I liked it so much I then bought it (on Steam). It's why I bought SR3 (which as flawed as it was was a good game still), and then SR4 when it came out. And DLC (well the mission DLCs) for both games. If they did release hte SR2 DLCs for PC I'd have bought them too I admit. I'm a sucker for actual additional story content.

Ironic too, the friend I wanted to play SR2 with.. has the xbox version, so we can't co-op. Alas. Still fun as hell singleplayer, particularly once you throw in some mods and stuff gets wacky.

THE PC VERSION looks weird and in sr2 all women looks asiatic oh and i was mugging a pretty lady and she opened her big eyes that was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!! unfortunately i killed her but here´s a pic

Dunno, just today I finished SR2 again; went for a 100% run and had a blast. I loved SRTT/IV, mind you, but SR2 is a ton of fun even after 400+ hours (plus everything Steam didn't add up due to crashes). With all the fixes IdolNinja and others have released, SR2 for PC is way more stable - not perfect but wholly enjoyable.
That said, I still like the series' new direction, if I want to "get back to gangbanging in Stilwater" I just fire up SR2. I'd love to play the DLCs but alas they're console only.

You should get it, but I'd recommend getting Powertools (and doing the manual stopwatch test, the automatic version gets it wrong too often to trust), GOtR for bugfixes and a bunch of other awesome things. Also, to improve stability and prevent a plethora of cutscene issues use a recording software to externally cap the FPS at 30. (I'm personally using DXTory, the trial version has all the features you need to cap the FPS if you don't want to buy it.)

I know, just wanted to point it out. If playing singleplayer it would be fine, but when playing co-op an exact sync is important. Also, you may want to test this. I usually host a co-op lobby for myself and my friend. I get a significantly higher framerate than he does, and even though we used your wonderful mod to sync our games, we still kept crashing after an hour or so. Out of desperation (and glitchy cutscene annoyingness) I capped my framerate at 30 with DXTory. This is much closer to his average 28.9 FPS, and out of nowhere the crashing stopped. Maybe having synchronized framerates could help with co-op stability?
