Personally I find Gat as one of the best characters. Could you imagine how lonely it would feel to be the last humans in the galaxy without a bad ass like Gat or a stronger figure that we could admire? The non-fans probably could, but I appreciate having him as company. Keeping Gat around reminds us that this is still Saints Row, no matter how much it changes. Sure the Boss may have been part of the original Saints, but Gat being one of the other characters who was a Saints makes it seem like a less lonely thing to live through. I would be quite disturbed if I was the last original Saint left, as the difference from the other people would make me flip out. Then again, it is probably because of my fear of being different from anyone else.

When i was a child/teen i really idolized those Badass dudes, they look so cool for me.... when i was a child so, now i prefer much the figure of the "regular joe soldier" than the "Rambo McBadass soldier"
I don't mind Johnny Gat that much, but personally, I find Kenzie a bit more interesting because she's more than just 'murder kill destroy demolish', which seems to be Johnny Gat's personal mantra. Don't get me wrong, I'll still play as him as well, but in terms of characterization and personality, I'd go with Kenzie.
Also, I just realized something: this will be the second time Kenzie has to save the Boss. She had to save him/her from the simulation in SR4, and now she has to save him/her from Satan's clutches. She ought to have a talk with him/her about this later.

Well, the Boss saved her from the Deckers in SRTT (twice, if you count Guardian Angel) and from Pleasantville in SRIV, so I'd say they're at least even on that front.Also, I just realized something: this will be the second time Kenzie has to save the Boss.
