About Johnny Gat - there is somebody that don't care about him that much?

i was never much of a Gat fan really
infact, i fail to understand why people like him so much, and i think Gat out of hell is a little too Gat themed for a good saints row game

i mean i spent most of the game playing as Kinzie, i love Kinzie, and at the end, it basicly forces you to let Gat take the spotlight

i know the game is GAT out of hell, but still
People like him because his "shoot first, talk later" attitude fit with the Saints' usual modus operandi, and unlike Kinzie, he never intentionally tried to undermine the Boss.

Not going to lie, I wondered why Shaundi didn't insist she'd go. We've been knowing for at least two games that she was really tearing herself up about Gat's death, so when he's planning to go to Hell, you'd think she'd hop in saying, "I'm not letting you out of my sight again. Last time that happened, you died. I won't make that mistake twice."

Kinzie's fine and all, but I would've thought it'd make more sense if it were Shaundi that went with Gat.

Shaundi's voice actor was charging too much, that's why they decided to go for Kinzie. .Kinzie voice actor charges less than Shaudi's voice actor...:)

I just started SR4 and 3. I watch 2 on Youtube just to know the story. And I think I can understand why he becomes mascot.

Gat is a straightforward badass and he helps a lot. Since the protagonist is us and there's no specific characteristic on him/her, Johnny Gat has to be the 'lead support character' for the protagonist's side of the story.

I'm not talking about how bland he's designed or how idiot he is. But he is the 'Our Hero' role guy that every story needs.

Even as much as I didn't like SR1 that much (I started on SR2 just a little after it came out and got SR1 a few months after that), Gat also was pretty much the same in the first game. The only time he wasn't really around was when Julius saved you and brought you to the Saints.
Gat pretty much just saw you as a chump and slowly grew to become a good friend. From there to the end of SR2, Gat and the Protagonist pretty much became closer/best friends (in my view at least) which I think is the next role in it.
People saw their virtual friend of mayhem killed... well... not even that. Was an off screen killing and even then, you still didn't see a body in a coffin. Even with that, it seemed a little more disrespectful to the character that when Bane crashed the funeral, that no one seemed to care that the casket just flew into the water. While everyone was keeping afloat, they just seemed like it was another routine.
I don't know, just how I've seen all the events myself.
The only other cool person from the original Saints that I really liked before SR2 was Dex, and you know how that turned out.

I absolutely agree about Kinsie. I view my boss as an intelligent badass who cares about Shaundi and Asha, but all the scenes with Kinsie just drive me crazy. She completely demeans how I view my character, and her being the save all superior intelligence is just stupid.

In 3, she was ridiculous from my perspective, the idea that she was supposedly more intelligent because of the way she talked and her nagging personality, more than once her and Oleg belittle the Boss, but their writing and dialogue is full of unrealistic pseudo science and magic hacking powers. Literally every single moment in 3 and 4 could have been done without her help, the fact that she was needed felt because "clearly she's so good at hacking" artificially reduced the stuff I wanted to see. There is a nasty trope in media where they instead of actual reasoning, they artificially use "scientific" words to make it seem so complex and incredible, she has done this quite a bit.

Plus that's a very good point about her hypocritically waxing poetic nonsensically, as if she hasn't been demeaning and rude this entire time, and her broken logic which is incoherent with her past choices.

Johnny Gat is...okay, I don't mind him. Although that whole "More afraid of him than you." line was annoying yet again. I kind like Pierce, in that he's fun to be around and has well written banter and dynamics. Although the characters I like the most are the ones who aren't given enough limelight.

I looked online to see all the cutscenes with the boss talking about Shaundi being "deadweight" and holding her back during the missions (as well as the stupid hacking thing again), and the ridiculous kidnappings and hostage holdings. In 3 and 4, she's frustrated and concerned that she doesn't do enough to help, and definitely appears to be smart and a skilled fighter. But then she is relegated to damsel in distress, even in 4, I hate that so much! They mention her concerns in the rescue mission, but then just drop it. Like seriously, she's way more helpful than Kinsie, but she's never given interactions with enemies or able to show what she can do properly (even though she can do a lot). The only thing that shows it properly to any extent is the loyalty mission, which was removed in the Australian version because screw our rating system and the awful delay. (Steam gave me the proper version for some reason so double screw our rating system). The christmas dlc shows her somewhat more with a cyborg outfit that I wish I could have had for my character, but then she slams you into a table, demeaning the boss even more, and conflicting with I how I view them, and for the reason of not believing the christmas storyline which was utterly lame. Sigh...

Okay so yeah, I don't mind Gat, but don't think he's hugely special.

Side note: Benjamin kings loyalty mission is my most hated mission in Saints Row.

After all, the boss don't have character.

I don't know, but I just like the character's so far. Gat himself is the main support, yet he's not perfect either. Everyone is very colourful to me and that shapes the Saints into a very interesting group. I prefer it to be like present than having everyone to be straightforward perfect badass.

Yep, everyone's got their own strengths and weaknesses, and the Boss is willing to get help from his/her companions if the need arises. That's what makes the whole group awesome in my book. It's not one person playing the lone badass, they're all working together.
