Agents of Mayhem gameplay details!

Primarily, the people that are just saying "looks like shit" or "bad" without bringing anything else to the conversation.

The people complaining about the graphics aren't too great either.

Honestly the complaints about the graphics are what frustrate me the most. Do people really love that pseudo-realistic 8 bit color palette look that most games have adopted these days so much? Personally I'm a fan of the cartoony style - it works great for the characters and the environment. The only things that looked a little off in the trailer was the car at the end if you ask me. Its shading made it look strangely plastic-y, as if they just slapped a standard phong material on there. Then again, that might just be caused by a lack of detail in the glossiness map of that particular model - nothing modders can't fix.

The big problem with the reception is I'm unsure if it's internet hate you can ignore, or a discernible representation on how the game will perform in the market, which is horrible, because I want Volition to do well, they have a lot of potential as a studio. Plus the fact that journalist websites decided to hate on the game after the first preview (I don't recall every seeing them do that with other triple A games, even the ones that are much worse). I am worried how that will affect public perception.

Plus with how few views the videos are getting and the lack of attention the game is receiving, and my concerns about city density and believable npcs, I'm scared yo! The marketing team really has to turn this around!

In other words everybody who isn't hyped. Noted.

Nobody is picking on it's art style. They're picking on the fact that it looks like a PS2 port, which might not bother everybody but for an AAA title it was pretty unacceptable even when Saints Row IV first came out, let alone now when we're nearing the end of the 8th generation of consoles.

Am I going crazy? The game looks gorgeous? Completely on par with the current generation. I don't know how the heck people are seeing it as a bad visual quality, because it clearly isn't.

Plus PS2 is a ridiculous exaggeration, especially considering how this looks a lot better than all the previous Saints Row games.

So people aren't hyped, but it would help if they explained why they weren't? Because again, developers can't read minds.

I really hope the game is able to alleviate concerns about the NPC animations or the immersive and reactivity of the open world, and make it feel lived it. I also hope the early concerns about writing GameSpot and PC Gamer talk about aren't the case. I'm rather annoyed that this, of all things, is the game preview they decide to be negative about.

Please don't suck, please marketing team stop the barrage of demanding straight up sequels and not providing helpful critique, ahh!

I stand corrected. I've seen PS1 games with more polygons.

So people aren't hyped, but it would help if they explained why they weren't?

Since when do I need a reason to NOT get hyped about something? I'm not hyped because there's nothing to get hyped about, it's that simple.

That is a compressed image from a youtube video, but despite that, the game looks gorgeous, the backdrop has a beautiful colour palette and the polygon count looks fantastic, everything looks fluid and smooth.

There is a difference between not being invested in a project and actively disliking it and not explaining why.
