attached the crash dialog also as requested
my crashes always seem to happen randomly after a set time in all normal gameplay havent had a chance to try co-op yet.

i have tried updating windows/directx/nvidia drivers, also tried the using 2 processors through task manager
and disabling desktop composition through compability options.

any help would be appreciated ! ive only managed about 2 hours total of gameplay :(

edit: also have tried deleting appcache from steam folder

Your video card falls outside of the lowest supported card. Considering that you are crashing in d3d, I think that is your issue.

i thought i made the cut with this video card

does it not barely make the cut?

thanks in advance

From the Steam game page.
Minimum
  • OS:Windows Vista (x86 or x64)
  • Processor:Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 | AMD Athlon II x3
  • Memory:4 GB RAM
  • Graphics:NVIDIA GTX 260 | AMD Radeon HD 5800 series
  • DirectX:Version 10
  • Hard Drive:10 GB available space

The steam minimum requirements list a GTX260 though, which is a generation after the 9600. You are crashing in the video driver, which is interesting.

guess i never noticed the change in minimum requirements from the original release info when i bought it on steam o well
thanks for the help

We had an issue in the Gentlemen of Steelport group chat where an individual was having issues with "The Real World" and it turns out his DirectX somehow got completely corrupted.

Robbles, try updating your DirectX and Video drivers and see if you still have issues.
Validating your files on Steam couldn't hurt either.

Yeah, I wouldn't give up totally since others are able to play on the 9800, just would try to keep it in mind when messing with it and don't make yourself nuts. :)

I had this same exact error running 2 hd7950's in crossfire, I don't know it's the GPU, even though the event log claims this. For whatever reason, it stopped when I removed the Inauguration Station. Might have been unrelated. You also appear to have failed windows updates today, so there may be something else at play. You appear to have had issues with HL2 in the past as well. Have you had any blue screens over the last month or two?
