No idea on the sound, but you can force the language to start in whatever you want. See the startup paramters file in the Reference folder of the GotR archive.
 
I figured out the sound problem.

Turning on the speakers.

Yeah..

And I had dreams of becoming a modder...

But! I do have other issues(real issues!). I chose to install the character creation improvements but none of them show up. I can't even change the eye-colours. Any ideas? I have reinstalled the vanilla and then tried GotR again but to no avail.

The eye colors are actually moved to the high end shops. This way you have the entire range of clothing colors to choose and can color the iris and sclera separately, or even remove the eyes entirely leaving empty raw sockets, you know, if that's your kind of thing.

What "character creation improvements" are you talking about?
 
Are you that you actually installed the mod then? Did you get the big golden wings on the title screen?
 
Yes, I'm sure. I started it up now to take a look. I got the wings.

Wait, maybe I'm being a schmuck about it. Is there a list that tells me exactly what sliders are being extended? Or which taunts are new? I couldn't find it in the files.

Maybe everything is the way it should be but I'm just captain oblivious right now.
 
Well, that slider mod is an optional mod that you would have to manually select yourself in the batch menu. A few of the new taunts/compliments off the top of my head are the harmonica playing, guitar playing, polishing sword, slicking hair back, voodoo dool, etc.
 
I skimmed through this thread and tried searching to see if this problem has been posted before. If it hasn't and it has been solved already I apologize. While I'm not entirely sure this problem is related to this mod, I thought I'd post it here since this was the only mod I run. (Basically I don't know if it's the game or the mod, in case I confused you)

I don't seem to be getting any homies like I should. All I have on my phone are Jessica, Veteran Child, and The Ronin leader. I completed the Samedi missions, so I should have Shaundi, Laura, Tobias etc. as well as Luz (the Hispanic chick you do the drug trafficking activity for) except I don't. I only have the three I listed above. If anyone can help me solve this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
