How are other Saints using the M2 Grenade Launcher if I haven't bought the DLC?

But how does that M2 Grenade Launcher even show up in his game, if he doesn't have the DLC?! (Is what he was asking, I think).

Because all players get all files for the game, so that dlc assets are compatible in coop. i.e. one player in coop can still use that grenade launcher even if the other doesn't own it. The player who doesn't own it simply can't pick it up and fire it. The player's steam account itself is what unlocks the content for use.

Ah :) That makes sense! Thx.

You mean the fact that his linked Steam account owns no games, and this same IP from India has been creating alt accounts all day after getting banned for piracy multiple times?

Out of curiosity, though, knowing it is possible for people to buy SR3 not from STEAM, would it, even if they link to their STEAM account, then still show up as games they bought under STEAM? I know Tomb Raider 2013, for example, can be bought via Origin too, but requires STEAM nonetheless, somehow.

I have no idea about the new Tomb Raider, but SRTT is Steamworks and all versions worldwide install via Steam. This includes all boxed retail and all digital distribution. For example, if you bought SRTT on, say, gamersgate, they would just give you a key to register on Steam. If you buy a boxed copy at a store, you MUST register it on Steam as part of the install process. Our contacts at Volition and THQ personally confirmed this to be the case for all releases worldwide. Anyone trying to tell you they have a standalone disc only version is either lying or has some kind of unofficial bootleg.

Ah. Thx for the explanation. :) Always wondered how that worked exactly (but never needed to use it, as I just get my games directly from STEAM; why bother with the extra layer, right?)

So, in that case, LOL @ Indian guy for linking to a STEAM account with no games registered to it. :p

By the way, IdolNinja, what if that guy you banned earlier in this thread had a legal copy of SR3, but for whatever reason didn't want to use Steam so he downloaded a pirated copy? It's unlikely, but still a possibility.

Our rules are extremely clear. Piracy is a permanent ban on first offense. I'm not going to worry about farfetched theories and possibilities. Also, for the second time, let's get back to the topic at hand or I'll be locking this thread.

wait so you can pick up weapons if i remember right so couldn't you pick it up if you killed your let's say it's pierce you see he has a nice weapon this one is in fact dlc you do not have the dlc and you kill him which they drop their guns when they die so that means you could totally abuse the system and get free dlc man volition don't know what they are doing

I'm not sure how you came up with that, but it's the complete opposite. You can't pick up any dlc weapons that you don't own the dlc for, even if other npcs use them.

well i would think so because when you play through you can pick up weaps and your homies drop them when they die so but that's fine i was thinking that volition fucked up
