I Finally finished the steam preload and it is different from Amazon's digital downloads.
Amazon was a setup file plus multiple 1 to 1.5GB files and would connect to Steam to get the decryption key during the install.
Steam's version just has a very large depot cashe file in the "\depotcache\" folder. The single file is 7,563,252KB (or roughly 7.3GB).
Note: with the Amazon set there are 2 keys.
1 key is sent to you via email, and should be on the digital downloads page (this is your purchase key and is your key for the game install).
The second key is not listed, it is the decryption/unlock key that is from the steam web site.
It is a shared key that all versions of the encrypted file use (be it digital download, or DVD install copies).
This key decrypts the files allowing them to be readable by the setup program and to be able to be installed.
The second key is made available by Valve on the Steam site "on the day of the release"
For SR4 it should become available at 00:00:01 Aug/20/2013 for the time zone you are in.
I remember people doing VPN tunnels to proxy servers in Australia to get SRTT to unlock 8 to 16 hours early. That was kinda funny.
Ironically, if someone where to try that this time around they may end up getting the censored version of SR4...
Oh well at least the damn things is hear, now just to wait till midnight monday night/tuesday morning.
Since I usually sleep in the afternoon and am up all night this won't be a problem for me
Also to note: there are some other smaller files that were pulled as well. I'm wondering if they are the pre-order items or something else?
