Overall, this DLC was of much better quality than EtD (which shouldn't even qualify as DLC, just bad recycled cut content), the environments and enemies were very nicely detailed, with collectible letter and text adventure easter eggs which add some much needed depth to these short missions. The writing was absurdly stupid and makes zero sense, everyone was so out of character it wasn't even funny. But, that's what I've come to expect from Saints Row now. Not really my cup of tea, but it was entertaining enough for a "christmas special". Santa's fate at the end was a nice touch, though.
As for gameplay, this DLC delivers more of the same, "go here, shoot dudes" objectives with a christmas theme is what you can expect most of the time. The final mission which involves piloting Santa's sleigh was the only place where interesting new ideas were thrown in, and I'd have liked to see more present/coal delivery action in the form of activities. Too bad.
I'd recommend buying this DLC if you're looking to get an hour more of playtime out of SR4, but maybe not for full price. I wish DLC which extended the main story was planned, as in SR2, but who even knows where the SR series goes from here. It's a pretty big mess. Once you've gone to space, everything else kind of pales in comparison. At this point I hope SR5 (if it's planned) is a reboot.
