SPOILERS Saints Row (2022) official info

A big landscape is cool, if it has secrets and explorable locations. If it's just a wide expanse of nothing, then I'm left wondering what the point of it was. I'm not expecting the game to be like Red Dead Redemption II where you could pretty much abandon everything and live life off the land with just you and your horse, but there has to be a reason to care about getting out there into the wilderness.

Yup. 4 & GOOH aside, Saints Row kinda always was trend-chasing , it's just what is trendy has changed.

Saints Row IV was weird, but I gotta admit, it had its moments. It was an awesome superhero game. I loved the cramming homies in the car. My favorite was Roddy Piper. I loved listening to some of the funny dialogue, especially between old Shaundi and new Shaundi.

GooH was weird too, but I loved the flying, and I enjoyed the hell theme, but yeah, I don't really consider those games "saints row". Just like a weird acid trip.

For me, the absolute LOWEST point of the series, and the one I hated the most, was the Trouble with Clones. That narrator was SO annoying, and the story was SO bad. Gangstas in space runs a close second, with the Boss crying NOOOOOOOOO every time a character "dies". It was so corny.

I think I've had a revelation.

Saints Row has a pattern.

The first two were often viewed as a clone of GTA, but more rediculous. Almost like they were playfully mocking the seriousness of actual gang violence, which was the in-thing for popular games of that time (the violence part, not the mocking part).

Then SRTT, was playfully mocking the take on the lifestyles of celebrity empires.

Then SRIV was playfully mocking superhero movies, which was around the same time the MCU & DCCU was making their presence known.

What if this new Saints Row is just playfully mocking the way PC culture has essentially taken over at this point and games we once loved are now frowned upon for their tenancies to be "too offencive"?

That or a parody of Silicon Valley startups/hustle culture, the Welcome To Santo Ileso video fit those to a tee with talking more about diversity than it did the actual meat of what their selling.

SV companies also like to present as progressive and relatable with their PR while often being much more sinister beneath the surface.

So for all we know this could actually be some 4D Chess satire.

I think you're definitely onto something here.

Maybe we can confirm this theory by seeing how the next trailer goes. Especially after all this "unforseen" backlash they "didn't" account for.

That and they've been working/planning on this for years, plus Volition having a rep for hearing out and being upfront with their community (especially with IdolNinja, may he rest peacefully) so to completely miss the mark PR wise just doesn't seem like what they'd do.

But it, again, is what these kinds of start-ups would do.

That laugh was for the video, but yeah. We shall see in the next trailer.

If it is true, I wonder who's in on it? MrSaintsGodzilla, RPGGaming?

I always said I was disappointed that they never replaced Lin's undercover role after the first Saints Row, maybe they decided to do a real life version within the Saints Row community for this first Saints Row in the reboot series?
