I have to admit editing faces is hella stupid:
1. Pick a race preset. There's no race selection like in previous games so you have to pick a preset with a race you would like to edit
2. They removed a lot of old sliders so you need to pick another preset of eyes, mouth, ears, etc and then edit it
3. Never press Alt+Tab while editing because Tab button will reset all of your edits without any warning
I had hard times trying to figure out how it works. The CC is also very buggy and I hope they'll fix it in the final release
Oh dear, they moved towards less modular presets for each facial aspect instead of full modularity? That is very disappointing if I'm understanding that correctly.
When you say there is no race selection, are you saying that specific customization options are locked to certain presets, instead of allowing you to change ethnicity at will, irrelevant of other attributes?
And that instead of allowing full morphability of attributes, there are now preset assets with much more limited sliders?
Despite claims about the game being "cartoony", it seems like the Boss's face has slipped into that uncanny valley I hated in the 3 remaster. I noticed that you haven't been able to replicate your boss from 4 yet, which is more stylized but looks much better.
I wouldn't inherently be against presets if there were nice looking options, but I haven't seen people able to make a face that doesn't look a little "off" and dead-eyed. There also seems to be something strangely frumpy and disproportionate about the overall frame of the body, which sucks because the triangle slider is now even more limited than it used to be.
I expressed this concern during the first customization showcase, that it doesn't matter how many ancillary options they add, like galaxy skin, wacky colour sliders or shark teeth, if the core important elements of the creator, like body customization, make-up, hair, tattoos, scars and facial attributes, are messed up.
People haven't been able to make any of the fun characters you can in Soul Calibur, just bootleg dumpy looking versions of pop culture characters.
The fact they've shown so little of substance gameplay wise is also worrying, they haven't shown much in the way of any open world activities, story missions, difficulty, AI, replayability, substantial sidequests or minigames, anything really.
This scathing video in particular makes me very worried.
I really hope someone at Volition reads this forum, because I don't know anywhere else to post long-form feedback to them.
