From Volition’s official trailer description:

“Saints Row arrives February 25 2022.

Witness the birth of the Saints. In a world rife with crime, where lawless factions fight for power, a group of young friends embark on their own criminal venture, as they rise to the top in their bid to become Self Made.

Experience the biggest and best Saints Row playground ever created; the unique sprawling world of Santo Ileso is the backdrop for a wild, larger than life sandbox of thrilling side hustles, criminal ventures and blockbuster missions, as you shoot, drive, and wingsuit your way to the top. As the future Boss, with Neenah, Kevin, and Eli by your side, you’ll form The Saints – and take on Los Panteros, The Idols, and Marshall as you build your empire across the streets of Santo Ileso and battle for control of the city. Ultimately Saints Row is the story of a start-up company, it’s just that the business The Saints are in happens to be crime.”

So apparently we’re a budding gang trying to wrest power from the Los Panteros, Idols, and Marshall And ourselves, along with Neenah, Kevin, and Eli are founders of the Saints. And though I can’t verify, it seems we can still customize our Boss.

Y’know, I think I’m OK with this. Seems we’ll be witnessing a new story arc unfold with brand new characters.

I watched the trailer. Appears many people replies do not like the game in current state, mainly because many iconic characters like Shaundi, Pierce, Gat are mysteriously missing. Also I don't know if the new game is having homies like previous games - there wasn't any HUD shown at all in trailer.

On other side:
1. The game has proper player customization again (it least didn't repeat the lack from Saints Row Gat Out of Hell), although many people still think it's is missing entirely.
2. Also appears the wall graffiti are back (while in Saints Row The Third, IV and Gat Out of Hell they were completely missing).
3. Also the map appears to be a mixed hybrid between Saint Row 2's map and the maps from Rockstar Games' games Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2.

It seems like it's trying to balance the grounded stuff from 2 and the wacky from 3 which is a good compromise. Can't really say much about the new characters themselves but I trust volition. I just hope the new city is more inline with stilwater and not steelport.

I'm excited for it, looks really promising and people need to understand that is a reboot. It's a completely new story and new characters and knowing Volition we'll def be seeing cameos of characters from previous games.

The characters look kinda generic and bland to me atm, I hope we'll learn more about them soon to make them more memorable and unique.
The setting seems nice, a bit overused recently with games like Cyberpunk and Forza, but we haven't seen a setting like that in SR yet.
My true gripe is the exclusivity to the Epic Games Store once again, shitting on basic features like reviews, achievements, mod support and forums.

Exactly! For all we know, Gat is the Chief of Police in this game. Remember how one of the endings of Gat out of Hell had him being a police officer?

the egs exclusivity alone definitely already made the decision for me too, just inexcusable
