I think we reached an agreement.
On topic, planes were useful in SR2 for travelling long distances. Since VTOLs combine both planes and helicopters, I guess that planes became more of a secondary transportation means than before.

VTOL's are slower than planes and less maneuverable than helicopters, which is pretty fair.

What I really hate about the SR TT / SR IV planes (much like most vehicles really) is that the modded customization is buggy as hell. I miss my gold plated Snipes from SR2 T-T And flying it into Vogel's office.

Well they do take off faster and easier obviously, so, taking Steelport's enormous lack of size into consideration I guess they are faster.

It may be old hat to gamers now, but I think it's still fun to buzz the streets between skyscrapers in planes. Helicopters are too safe, planes are asking to crash. Back when I first saw flight sims all I wanted to do were treacherously dangerous stunts like flying under bridges and between buildings, and I was reliving those moments the other night in SR4. It was surprisingly still pretty thrilling, despite being an activity arguably overshadowed by all the over the top stuff you can do in this game.

The VTOL is accessible only through cheats. It doesn't spawn anywhere.

The Saints VTOL*. And Cyrus' F-69 appears but can't be stored. Someone with a [V] here said you can store the regular STAG F-69 from Cat and Mouse, but so far I haven't had any luck with that. Only managed to store the Verminator, all "Cat" vehicles seem to de-spawn when the diversion ends.
