DLC Opinions?

There are sites offering 50% to 75% off almost monthly on all SR:TT products, if your patient you can pUrchase everything very inexpensive as for the in between did you skip the intro to the game? It explains the saints took over stilwater and became media icons, enter steel port.....the game takes place after sr2. I wouldn't see the point of going back to play a game which would have to consist of them getting lawyers and PR agents to represent them and signing contracts for media memorbilia and autographs, which is what the intro insinuates. There wouldnt be much of a game there. They've already introduced cloning and it's not perfected, obviously any character could be brought back properly in the next game by just perfecting cloning which Oleg or Kinzie could obviously figure out. The question is would Gat even want to come back, he went out being his badass self and is now with Aisha.

They could easily bring back any of the main characters now or even enemies, the question is should they? I thinking bringing back characters now takes away from the original tales and we'd end up with repeated crap. "oh shit Gats back!....is that Maero??" They'd come back and want revenge on the saints and you beat them once already and it'll just get stale and repetitive. I could see maybe flash back missions at the beginning of the next game....having the saints finally being able to have proper burials for all the fallen comrades, to lead into a full city siege since they declared steelport foreign soil. Although......if they really wanted to go all out, they'd have the Government Clone Johnny Gat and use him against the saints.....now THAT would be sweet.

It's a game! Why not be over the top? Youre saying it's more Over the top then SR2? You put radioactive waste in a tattoo gun somehow in sr2, you kill bums to take there home in sr2, shaundi is screwing the entire city in SR2, you can drive around and spray sewage on people from a truck, you break out of prison to go back and break someone else out of prison, you break Gat out a courthouse, what exactly isn't over the top about any of that? Violition doesn't force anyone to buy DLC, you want it you pay. Thats how it works, could the content of been more providing for the prices? Sure, but it wasn't. Could they of just released it all with the game instead of having ANY DLC? Sure but they didn't, and no one put a gun to our head to pay for any of it. We chose to pay, some paid full price, some didn't. I personally think thier DLC content has been pretty good compared to other games I've played. I also didn't pay full price, I purchased during sales.

Complaining about the cost of something you chose to purchase is pretty fruitless.

Sorry for double post, I was never complaining, I just said I wish it was longer, you got the wrong idea out of my post, and you seemed to have beat the crap out of my opinion, just because you don't agree doesn't mean you have to prove to me why it is stupid, it's an opinion, and unless I'm getting the wrong message out of your post (which if I am I'm sorry), it seems like you are just hating my opinion

Not my intention at all so my apologies, I get a little deep into my rants. I never said anything you said was stupid I stated my opinion on why I personally dont think a game between 2 and 3 would be necessary. I also said they could bring back characters, my response wasn't ment to be taken as a direct attack and I apologize if you felt that way about it. I like to debate and you posted the first thing that gave me an excuse to rant lol.

So again my intent was not to belittle or offend in anyway, I'm a little rough when talking and forget sometimes so I do apologize. I merely ment to inform and throw out my personal take on the in between area of the games. I could of been a little more tactful in my wording as I read it back and seeing it quotes kind of makes it a bit more obvious that I was a bit of a dick and I really didn't intend it to be that way.

And the comment about complaining about cost was in general not towards you because a lot of people have complained about the cost lol :P

I see, I am also sorry, for my reading skills aren't the best xD

Saints Row 2 was over the top, I agree. However, Saints Row 3 is VERY over the top. They took the wackiness of SR2, and ramped it up to 12, because going to 11 was too dull.
It lost something in translation I feel, but it';s still a great game. Why it lost it I think is because it somehow feels smaller, like there's less to do. It's a much shorter game, despite advancements. Part of that is nostalgia for SR2 I guess.. it had its problems, but it also had more to randomly explore and wander. Things like caves underneath the city, little hidden areas, islands off the coast, stuff like that. SR3 is the stuff you get and that's it. DLCs add more areas but not a whole lot more, and nothing you can just explore.

As for Gat, I know that bringing him back would cheapen it. They'd have to do it during SR3 at some point like at the end.. otherwise it's cheapened. Although I guess it could be done right and would work if it was.. but it's a lot of challenge now the further you go. The trick is who to replace him. He was the link back to the first game after all. There's no one else now. I s'pose that means Pierce and Shaundi die in SR4 to match. o_O

Anyways, while the DLC is too much, when the season pass was on sale for half off on Steam it hit the point I could justify buying it. Before that I couldn't feel it was worth it. I have to play it all to tell if it really IS worth it or not.. but like all DLC if you have the money to blow for paying up $5 for a vehicle and a costume, go for it, you'll convince yourself it was worth it post-facto. Doesn't mean it's worth it for everyone, particularly those of us who buy a game or two once every year tops because they're expensive.. and doubly worse for those in australia who pay double the cost.

I could go as far as saying it IS much smaller, ridiculously smaller I totally agree with that. Should of been more internals, should of been less badassness as soon......I'm personally a sucker for over the topness I guess. I mean I used to be on counterstrike back in the day like a crack addict was on a pipe.....and with all the ridiculous shit that happened while playing was already great, when Gary's Mod came out, its over the topness made it even better in my opinion. I will say the

Depending on how you played, Shaundi is dead lol so all that is left is Pierce. :P Gang Lt's, and soldiers are expendable. It's the leader who matters in any old gangster movie. They can now introduce a new character that could in someway be related to Johnny, a Brother, or possibly a son. Just a thought, and if they do happen to bring Johnny back, I just hope its legit and properly done. That "Brute" Gat is retarded.....but then again, he looks like different but its Johnny....so maybe Oleg or Kinzie could just fix his mind and would REALLY be Johnny. All just ideas and speculation on possible ways to go.

I think this expansion coming out should go deeper into the story of SR:4, like maybe Gat didnt die.....maybe Steelport and everything that has happened was a Lie......Maybe Gat, Pierce, Shaundi, and Boss are ALL trapped in this fake world they are talking about. Maybe they had to introduce Gat's death into the system because they couldnt keep Gat under control......maybe Brute Gat IS Johnny but heavily sedated and drugged to avoid confrontation. So his avatar in the system they are trapped in is personifying his current mental state in relation to the drugs. I could see it all being a sham and leading into SR:4. I'd stick with the general idea of boss being trapped during an invasion, but make it grander in scale.....make it so that the entire planet has been enslaved, it will be up the saints to take it back. "Enter Planet Saints", for real.

Oh gods. I hope they DON'T do a "The whole game was a simulation in the not-matrix lolz" thing to explain away the entire third game. While it CAN be used correctly, you don't do it to retcon an entire game. That's... just bad writing. Nothing like playing that, feeling like a badass in charge of your own city-state, and then finding "Nope! Didn't happen! Ha ha, you're still stuck in jail after a failed bank robbery!"

Well, ok, there IS a good chance you can use that. If the original game's ending was terrible and hated (Mass Effect 3 anyone?) then maybe, MAYBE, you can get away with a "All a dream" retcon. But you have to set that up from the very start. Mass Effect 3 could pull it off. Maybe. They don't want to go that route it seems, but it could pull it off the way some thematic keys were put in prior. There's nothing in SR3 to imply it wasn't 'real'. If they suddenly imply that at the end of this expansion pack that all of SR3 was also this simulation and they try to pull 'nested simulations' crap, then I'll know Voilition jumped the shark-gun.

I want Gat back.. but without negating an entire game it's kinda late. Bringing him back would have to be some other method, of bringing him BACK. Not just making him never die. To make a 'never die' would have been at the end of SR3 itself.

I guess I can just hope SR4 has more content to it.

As the new standalone game "Enter the Domintrix" got revealed a while back does anyone know if we are going to get new vehicles, clothes, hair, songs and homies???

PS. Hopefully they will do what Rockstar have done with past, present and future installments of GTA and let you have a MP3 station so we can play are own songs instead of having the same tracks over and over again pity this feature was never a DLC with SRTT, also shame that Volition never release useful stuff like this.

PPS. Who got pissed of when they ported SR2 to the PC and never even bothered releasing the DLC that was on the XBOX360?

I wouldn't expect much from this "expansion", other than a lot of recycled missions and useless homies. After how disappointing the seasons' pass was, why would anyone even consider paying $30 for this?

I'm reserving judgement until we see a trailer. It's kind of weird that it's only a couple months away and all we have is one crummy april fool's screenshot and some billboards. That does not bode well.
