Goodbye Volition

What did we can learn from all of this?

Simple. DON'T BECOME AN ESG SLAVE
A lot of things point in the direction that Volition actually didn't want to make a game that would only impress your antisocial secret furry co-worker though. Chances are that Deep Silver forced this lame direction on them so it doesn't really feel fair that only Volition is going down in a situation like this.

dude. EVERY STUDIO... EVERY SINGLE ONE nowadays likes to brag about how diverse their team is. Instead of bragging about their competence. They hired tokens, not people.

Can't really argue with that, I mean the lack of quality in AoM and SR 2022 speaks for itself. Creatively though they wanted to make a real SR game but had to change direction during development for some reason. This will be pure speculation but I guess that this "some reason" must be the same reason why Deep Silver thinks that remastering SR1 and 2 wouldn't be worth it.

Game industry lost creative freedom when they started to listen to the likes of ANITTA SARKEESIAN. Instead they brainstorm on how sanitized a game could be. Because: "We ArE gOiNg FoRwArD wItH tHe TiMeS."

Gaming industry needs to go back to their edgy, Juvenile and carefree attitude. The 90s and 2000s were those times.

It's like when a comedian is on stage and someone in the audience boos him or tells him "that's inappropriate"... He's a comedian, his entire act is based on a comedic interpretation of the f*cked up reality in which we live. In short, if you easily get offended at edgy stuff, don't go to a god damn comedy club, just because you can't take a joke, doesn't mean you have to ruin everyone's experience.

Translate that to video games, if you get easily offended at edgy stuff, don't play that video game. They shouldn't have to compromise their humor and edgy experience just because a few people might get offended by it.

If the game looks like something you'd only complain about, then don't play it. It's not mandatory to play it.

I for one am quite on the dark humor side of things, so most people who make dark humor jokes about transgender people (Clarification: I am TG) get surprised when I bust a gut laughing at it. But that's the key, if it's intended as a joke, not malice or an attempt to insult someone, then why can't we have a laugh about it. But obviously I, just like everyone else, have a line that shouldn't be crossed.

Well shit, today I opened discord and got some news aight. Such a shame, I thought the reboot was doing at least okay-ish.
This would also mean that fixing sr2 is now solely up to the community.
I dunno about you but is sure feels like there are now spotlights pointed directly at us.

..i always feel a bit of sadness when decisions like these happens.. but they left a serie of game that will be played still for years to come, fans will keep appreciating.
Thanks for the entertainement you produced Volition

People keep asking me about it so let's clarify it. This website isn't owned by Volition or Deep Silver. It's not an official forum and it was created by SR fans however some of the members and modders here were SR developers. Volition being shut down doesn't mean the site will be closed soon as well. That's all.
Feels good that the site will be on for a long time.. even tho i personally feel empty now that Volition was closed. Even that Deep Silver contains Saints Row IP, the magic of a Saints Row game usually was made by Volition.
