I'll buy the DLC's if they are appealing to me. I like some of the costume DLC's, I'm a comic fan at heart. Grew up in the 70's reading them every chance I could. So for me, SR4 was a fantastic game with some really cool costumes. Even more so since I don't have an internet connection that allows me to play games like City of Heroes/Villains. I can't play any MP style games on a satellite internet...Even Co-op is a no go.

But that said, I do prefer mission DLC's over the 'glitter' packs. I liked the recent Dominatrix DLC, but wow was it short. My idea of mission specific DLC's runs in the neighborhood of HOURS of play. The Mass Effect series with their $20.00 DLC's....totally worth it. THAT'S they style of DLC I'd LOVE to see for SR4.

The truth is i hate dlc in alot of games unless it adds alot of major cool things but saints row dlc never does i hated saints row the third base game and all the dlc or the ones i got they were just mediocore and somewhat offensive,Cheats for dlc shit wow new costume that's a recolor of a recolor oh here another shit the only real good one was the genki bowl

An expansion would be great.
Steelport is a nice city that need to be more enjoyable in free roam: opening up more building, adding more different stores, more events, more crib, weapon, clothes and vehicle customization, setting morning star skyscraper as a crib for example.
Expanding the city too would be great.
An expansion like this and i would'nt mind the price!

I share my opinions with a lot people who have posted on this thread, whom have put their views down more comprehensively and effectively than I probably will. (GPZ in particular.)

I definitely agree that there are too many packs, with too little content for too much money. I really enjoy the super saints costumes by themselves, but they are parte of a frequent smattering of insubstantial additions that do little for a game post-campaign.
As others have said, saving them up and releasing large theme packs with a bunch of costumes/weapons/vehicles would be more palatable.

All the mission packs I ever purchased have felt lackluster, had little staying power and honestly didn't add enough content or replay value to the game to feel worthwhile. And ETD slid waaaay too deep back into the "Haha, SEX JOKES! lol" humor of SRTT for my tastes.

As with everyone, what I want to see are more substantial DLC. Expansions that enhance gameplay, enlarge/enhance the sandbox or extend the story meaningfully. There's plenty of opportunity for an expansion to bring in new conflicts and some fresh enemies. Especially with certain loose ends running around *cough cough*. I want to see something that really makes you want to break out the game after so many months and other game releases, blow off the dust, and dive back in. More than a fresh pair of silly pants can do.

When SR 4 was released, during the first few hours of gameplay I thought it could match or maybe even surpass SR 3. But eventually I realized how much worse it actually is in most regards. Like some others have stated, I now don't have any motivation to replay SR 4. There's just too little interesting to do and too little content. The superpowers, the annoying glitches in combination with the bad lighting and most importantly the whole story with its complete detachment from the previous installments annoy me. Way too much time is spent with repetitive side missions and way too little with the actual story. Of course this makes the purchase of any cosmetic DLCs highly unlikely. A game needs to have replay value on its own to make the purchase of cosmetic items interesting.

But as I said, initially SR 4 seemed like a great game to me. I went as far as purchasing the Season Pass, even though I normally detest the very idea of such a thing. I regret that purchase a lot now, since EtD is certainly the worst DLC I have ever played. It's so low in quantity but especially quality that I don't think THQ could have done worse. It feels like it was thrown together within days, using assets that were previously left out of the game for good reason, just to make quick money. Even if the sales numbers are satisfying initially, such a scheme can not be sustained when players become increasingly wary about the DLCs of a company.

I would like to add that I would expect a so-called Season Pass to actually include all the content. Right now it seems as if there would be at least one larger DLC which will have to be purchased separately.

What I like best about these games are the customization in combination with the story. I like to create my own player character and watch them play their part in cutscenes. The Saints Row games certainly have some of the best customization engines of all games. But it's a fact that SR 2 has more flexibility than SR 3 in that regard, which again is better than SR 4, where not even all clothes can be freely colored. So it goes without saying that any clothing DLC should add each part of clothing as its own customizable item. It totally defeats the purpose to just throw them into the game as a single costume.

Furthermore, I have no use for all those supposedly funny outfits. I prefer the more realistic ones, just like I prefer my player characters to look like actual persons. So I would certainly not buy any pirate customes or something like that. I also don't appreciate the pricing, the packs released so far are too expensive for the little content they offer. A larger pack with more clothing for a reasonable price would interest me more.

What I'd like even more are story DLCs, but they need to be longer and of higher quality. I would appreciate it most if the whole idea of this simulation with superpowers would be disregarded in favor of something more in the style of the previous games. I don't think that will happen for this game though, but I certainly hope that SR 5 will move into that direction again.

Someone else suggested a DLC which adds races back into the game. That's something that would interest me, as I never understood why they were removed from the games.

I think it's also on topic to note how annoying it is that the DLCs for SR 2 are not available on PC. I for one would still pay money for that, though I doubt the effort would be financially viable. Some developers have released older stuff to the community though, and I'm sure with the toolset someone would be able to integrate the content into the game. If Volition did that, I would gladly buy all the SR 4 DLCs just to send some money their way.

i would have liked to see a mission replay DLC, or unlock of sorts. trying to go through co-op with my brother recently, and because of a number of crashes on both ends, we completed the story mode together only to find that 3 of the missions did not register as co-op completed. a checklist in the cellphone menu would be a nice addition, so my brother and myself can go back and do them together.

the enter the dominatrix DLC was really short. with a maxxed out boss character, it took me about an hour to complete. for the low price, though, i guess it evens out some. it did highlight some neat stuff like the pony cart race and new villain, which i enjoyed.

i haven't gotten any of the weapon and clothing DLCs, so maybe i have yet to fully experience it all. i just throw on The Decker outfit (the one with the neon stripes on the pant leg and jacket), as it's my only favorite outfit. i would also like to see the return of the Astro Saint and Decker headphones for hats. they went really well with the Decker outfit/suit, and while the decker headphones (blue pair with the star and silver strap) are available, it did not fit my character in any outfit.

i would like to see maybe more DLC geared towards each individual homie, aside from the loyalty missions in the base game. in SR3, i liked the Pierce drug deals - driving around with Pierce, selling drugs or promoting the saints, etc. . definitely more homie interaction besides a phone call for assistance. i have yet to call a homie after finishing the game and reaching level 50, as i am powerful enough to handle most encounters.

the game mods forum is really helping alleviate some of the stagnancy , with Random Encounters and similar mods dealing with activities or game tweaking. but it will only last so long. until the next game, i guess.

there is a new release of 2 DLC today - forgive me for posting about them here.

Saints Row IV - Element of Destruction Pack
Released Nov 26, 2013

Boost your super-abilities with dynamite power! Explosive Blast, Chain-Boom TK, Explosive Buff, and the Time-Bomb Stomp add a whole new level of simulation-busting mayhem to Saints Row IV.

Saints Row IV - Zinyak Attack Pack
Released Nov 26, 2013

He may not be the prettiest galactic overlord but he’s your galactic overlord. Honor the glory of Emperor Zinyak by donning one of three Zin outfits: the trooper, the Warden, or even the magnificent cranial ridge and flowing cape of Zinyak himself.

why isn't this stuff already in game? i have to admit the Element of Destruction one is tempting but being already powerful and super with nothing else to do in Steelport sways me away some. i might just get it to support Volition, as i really do like the game. just needs more content to use this stuff, like costume specific missions (which players may not like, but the DLC will come with an outfit, and some additional context to use and enjoy it). maybe an increase in level cap, or more things to do co-op with (besides the PvP instances, which are fun for a little while).

DLC mod for more than 2 players, please. my brother and i play, and my other friend just got SR4 on sale on amazon, so i wish i didn't have to drop a friend to play with another. even if i could not do 2 player missions, can there be a DLC that allows many players to congregate in the same map? then we can have impromptu races and general mayhem with more players. <<< at least this one, because idk if another game will be as great or better, since SR4 i feel was a giant upgrade from SR3, so idk how the next game can be any bigger.

Element of destruction... .... .... I think I just found my reason to SPEND SOME MONEY!! Imma go play it! THIS is exactly the sort of thing I wanted... more of this... with enough of these sorts of things, my friends and I can create sufficiently unique power sets to help us work together (or against eachother ^_~)

The Element of Destruction pack is definitely a step in the right direction, and from the sneak peaks we've gotten I feel really good about future DLC. I really feel like Volition are actively experimenting to figure out how to expand as a developer. It's very cool how we make suggestions and they react in real time. When a developer can have that type of agility huge success will follow. Less like a tank and more like a Bootlegger. If a company has agility then they can afford to make mistakes. I'm eager to see how this plays out.
