I doubt they will bring back weapons from other games, as theyr working on an SDK :p, soon as we have a Matlib tool im sure people will be porting more weapons, also thers alot more to it than just 'skins' you need a mesh for that texture to map to, and a whole bunch of tabels to code up that weapons behavour and vfx etc
And a helluva lot of scripting...I know. But I'm just a member, not a modder...but I usually come up with some cool ideas
of what people would want to add into the game! Still...I'll wait till this SDK is 100% complete, then hopefully we'll all
see more better & improved mods being developed...though I'll bet the boss aka @IdolNinja has an alpha build of it & is currently
making mods with it, in order to test its effectiveness in modding.

It would need alot of coding not scripting sorry to be picky :D they are two diffrent things, and I dont think any one does atm apart from prob Mike Wilson, This is just a guess but I think Idol has been doing mostly Lua scripting mostly on SRIV, he or Scanti could prob make a tool tho but they would need infomation on file formats this is an example from Volition this is for Vpp_pc files (packfiles)

Code:
// 2048 bytes : header info (v_packfile).
// - descriptor (4 bytes)
// - version (4 bytes)
// - short name (65 null terminated bytes)
// - pathname (256 null terminated bytes)
// – flags (4 bytes)
// - sector (4 bytes) // packfile starts at this sector
// - dir_size (4 bytes) // number of bytes in directory block
// – filename_size (4 bytes) // number of bytes in filenames block
// – data_size (4 bytes) // number of uncompressed bytes in the data files
// – compressed_data_size (4 bytes) // number of compressed bytes in the data section
// – dir (4 bytes) // offset/pointer to directory section
// – filenames (4 bytes) // offset/pointer to filenames
// – data (4 bytes) // offset/pointer to data section
// – open count (4 bytes) // number of files that have open handles into this packfile(runtime data)

// 2048 bytes : directory block (v_packfile_entry).
// – name char * (4 bytes)
// – sector (4 bytes) sector RELATIVE to start of packfile of start of file
// – start (4 bytes) byte offset RELATIVE to start of packfile of start of file
// – size (4 bytes) uncompressed file size
// – compressed_size (4 bytes) compressed file size
// – parent (4 bytes) packfile containing this file

// FILE DATA LAYOUT:
//
// RAW: (old skool)
// [file + SECTOR_alignment_pad] x N
//
// CONDENSED:
// [file + alignment_pad] x N
//
// COMPRESSED:
// [compress(file) + SECTOR_alignment_pad] x N
//
// CONDENSED + COMPRESSED:
// compress([file + alignment_pad] x N)
//
// NOTE: SECTOR_alignment_pad is padding up to PACKFILE_SECTOR_SIZE boundary
// NOTE: alignment_pad is padding up to PACKFILE_ALIGNMENT_VALUE
//
// NOTE: for computing DATA_SIZE in RAW and COMPRESSED formats, do not count the
// the SECTOR_alignment_pad of the terminal file.
// NOTE: for computing DATA_SIZE in CONDENSED formats, do not count the the
// alignment_pad of the terminanl file.

I wish I knew more about making programs, Id give any thing for a Matlib - Xml Tool, its only thing stoping
going forward in my main mod, and you should get into modding, if you love mods you would love modding
ther are plenty of resources on this forum, Iv only been modding Saints Row a few months, any thing in an XTBL

is easy to work out they are all in plain english and at the bottom of mos tabels you have a list of elements and
descripions of what each one does and what other tabels are refrenced from each table etc, start of with somthing easy and
work you way up from ther :p

Mask Mods, please keep your responses on topic.

I really wanted that the clothes DLCs wasn't only suits, I wanted them to be separated so I could mix them (like the new post-apocalyptic torso with 50' skirt for example). That is really a deal breaker for me, if they were separated pieces it would be awesome...

I'm willing to give Volition a huge pass for SRIV as they'd been under the yoke of THQ; I could quite easily imagine "Don't spew that godforsaken Asha voiceover on the loading screen" as a $1.99 DLC pack under their regime. But overall, SRIV is far, far less satisfying than SRIII. It seemed like 90% of the game was just finishing the diversions, with there being scant few story missions. It's all the more painful since the opening was so promising - pancake QTEs! A spaceship! ...and then a lot of meh. The loyalty missions were OK, but mostly more of the same.

To get back to the main question - that of DLC - I was hoping that EtD would flesh out the game a lot more; both Homies in Space and Trouble With Clones were good, meaty expansions, but EtD felt like a bunch of leftovers. The furry and chariot scenes are pretty much the only things that didn't seem like recycled filler, although I did appreciate the voice-overs and snarkiness involved.

So, all in all, I'm happy to have bought the game and the season pass to get the franchise back on its feet - but I'll be looking at DLC very, very skeptically and as an augur of what SRV would be like (assuming it's in the pipeline.)

I believe that this is the single most important opinion Volition and Deep Silver need to pay attention to when it comes to the future of Saints Row, and it's DLC. I too enjoyed SRTT and SR 4, HOWEVER, I gave great consideration to the fact that they where struggling with THQ. I felt the games where good, but fell short of their potential. I think that Saints Row 5 is by far the most important game Volition or Deep Silver will release in the next few years. If Saints Row 4 is the most content they can fit into a game for $60, what exactly are they going to do now that we've had an official generation jump. If the past two games and their DLC fell short of our expectations, imagine what our expectations are going to be in two years. Last generation Developers offset the expense and time spent on graphics/physics by shrinking the gaming worlds. The better the graphics, the smaller the world. This had nothing to do with the specs of consoles. This was a matter of budget, and time. Now graphics are expected to get better, and worlds bigger......gonna need a bigger boat....I'll stop there.....it's on the cusp of the topic anyways...In conclusion, I beleive SR 4's DLC was a way for DP and Volition to give us a silver lining on the future of Saints Row. A chance to blame all of the shenanigans on THQ and move forward......however, the game and it's DLC practices haven't seemed to really change much with or without THQ.

I was genuinely surprised to see a cheat DLC even after they had been bought by another (better) company. I had always thought that was THQ's idea. Though maybe Deep Silver stole it. At least they're more supporting of the modding community now.

considering Volition chose gameplay over graphics with SR2, I'm really hoping they'll do the same when it comes to SR5. I will gladly accept slightly-improved SR3/4 graphics if it means a vastly improved open world and customization. The vast limitations of the previous two games were understandable when they were working on outdated hardware to meet THQ's demands, but Volition has been unchained now and it's next-gen, so they need to show it.

I completely agree with you, and it's exactly how I feel. In relation to graphics, having a nice blend between cartoony and realism, with smooth animations, is how I feel they should work forward. Allowing for absurdity within the customization, whilst also allowing realistic character designs for those who desire it. Saints Row 4 can be quite pretty as times, and I hope in the future modders will refine animations and textures in a way that makes them age well and look nice. It doesn't need to be a powerhouse of a game, but good art direction can overcome graphical fallout.

Another important aspect, is that the world needs to feel intelligent and alive. I'm not sure how much is possible for Volition, but having AI feel intelligent (not necessarily realistic) is important. Enemies need more than 1 to 3 models, and have to fight cleverly, and become a thrill to combat. Pedestrians need models that don't repeat very often (and when they do, design it in such a way that you barely notice), have smart interactions with the world. Peds should be on the rooftops, caring for gardens, calling people on phones, playing pool, trying various sports, laughing with each-other, going on a cross country trek in their Toads, arguing, driving intelligently, being offensive, being polite, all depending on what they're near and what they look like.

Police should have interactions other than immediately shooting you, and should only do that if assaulted or considered necessary.
"Sir! Get down from that mailbox! Now!"
"Hey! Watch your language! The middle finger is not necessary!"
Mam you're going to need to get out of your vehicle, you have caused a crash."
"Sir are you okay? You've been in an accident!"
They could also have more interactions with other officers, and have regular everyday interactions with the player and other civilians, polite and hostile.

Along with having the ability to customize everything (your homies possibly), you should be able to visit areas outside of missions and do activities within them. The best example I have is having the ability to go above the clouds like in those SR3 missions, harassing planes, and if they have a enemies inside them, allow for mid air combat as you plummet, instead of having it on rails for only two missions.

Obviously these are all just ideas, but Volition needs to be forward thinking about these things if they wish to stay relevant. If dlc is good, people will trust the company more and its future endeavors, and so far, I am quite disappointed still, especially by ETD. Better post launch support, and good additions, quality of life improvements, and optimizations to the core game, will help consumer goodwill on the track to whatever next project they're working on (presumably open world and customizable). I want to pay for more valuable products and keep supporting the team!
