Saints Row IV Latest Steam patch for SRIV breaks weapons

I think it's safe to say everyone knows what happens with the broken patch, so enough with the "I have it too, this is gone and that is gone." It's very sad it's gone, but it's just an ingame item that can be returned easily, AFTER Volition makes sure it doesn't happen again AND that by returning it, the game doesn't break down. Clearly that is hard to do, or else they would have fixed it already by now. Be glad they don't just throw in a patch that actually makes it worse because they didn't test it enough, or that they don't just say "Guys, sorry, but your old save data is gone. You all have to start a new game."

But for now, DO start a new game as bugs don't seem to be there with a new game and wait until Volition found a way to patch the old save files. The game itself runs fine except the known weapon issues. If you do need a certain weapon to finish a quest, the Friendly Fire Unrestricted mod allows you to buy all weapons (Except the Pre-order ones and DLC ones) ingame so you can do your quest. If you have upgraded the weapon, you will buy it from Friendly Fire WITH the upgrades, so don't worry there. I highly doubt it that one person has co-op problems while the other doesn't. I played SR IV co-op for a couple of hours yesterday after the broken patch and we had fun with the bugged weapons. But if you do want to co-op, just start a new game co-op. That way you can still have fun together while Volition works hard for all of you to fix it, as they have always done.

And please.. don't start with the whining about paying for DLC that doesn't add much... The Cheat DLC, as for the last 2 clothing DLC cost money. It are hard times, but you don't NEED the content. It's just fun. And you know that eventually they come with a pack that is cheap and holds all the DLC. It's not like they kept content out of the game just to make you pay more for it. The game already holds so much clothing.

As for on-disk DLC, that is actually NOT when part of it is already downloaded on your hard disc. On-disk DLC is when they also have it with the main game on the DVD, but have it locked like they did with Mass Effect. Of course it downloads the necesary data for the DLC's with updates onto your hard disk. Or else, when I play with a DLC outfit, and I co-op with someone who doesn't have the DLC, my character would appear naked or his game would crash because of unknown content. But it isn't the full DLC. Just a way to make it work with the other person's game with co-op.

Oh I agree, but here's the score:

- An unfixed Inauguration Station.
- Saints Row 4 launch bugs (to be expected of course).
- Cheats for sale "DLC" pack (and here I was blaming THQ for that when the same happened for Saints Row 3, my mistake).
- Two overpriced minimum content DLC packs when the game has only been out a few days here in Europe.
- Releasing those DLC packs before fixing any major launch bugs.
- A patch that broke the game.
- A patch that failed to resolve the damage caused by the previous patch.

I really wanted give my support to Volition, but they seem to be doing their best to prevent me from doing so.

So yes, time will tell, but so far it doesn't look good.

-The Inauguration Station is separate from the game.
-What launch bugs are you talking about exactly? Only ones I can think of are the audio bugs that occur if you skip the intro, apart from that well the U.I. is kind of "edgy" but apart from that...
-The Cheats DLC's are for those who want them. If you don't want them, don't buy them, it's as simple as that. Volition are both legally and morally allowed to sell whatever they want, doesn't mean you have to buy everything.
-Overpriced? SR TT and SR IV DLC is cheap compared to most games that use this kind of distribution method (which will probably be every game soon).
-Uhh... yeah I agree with this.
-This too, but s*** happens.
-This as well...

I guess they could speed it up a bit.

Wait a sec...

*Time out*

Is what Ava said true? If I just start a new game it'll be bug free? If that's the case, I'm just sitting here waiting for a patch that fixes my pre-existing saves?

Screw the old saves if that's the case. I mean I only have 30 hours into the game, that aint jack.

Myth busted. It's not. I've already done that, you wouldn't have duplicate weapons but the DLC would still be missing. The other bugs are still there as well, like not being able to play co-op.

What works in a broken state may well be broken again after a fix. So, no, I say there's no guarantee your new savegames will continue to be okay after a patch.

I think it might work if you havent load your game since the 600mb update. I really hope it dont break my save, I just finish all activities and side quest and left main quest to progress.

Sorry to go off-topic but I think people need to know about the DLC thing.

Like what Ava said here:
Or else, when I play with a DLC outfit, and I co-op with someone who doesn't have the DLC, my character would appear naked or his game would crash because of unknown content. But it isn't the full DLC. Just a way to make it work with the other person's game with co-op.

We can't keep blaming the devs about tiny paid DLC like cheats and costumes especially they dont cost much and it is not something that you need to complete the game. The DLC has to be downloaded into your PC whether you buy it or not. If they dont do so, how are no DLC players co-op with DLC players? The community can be easily separated if they dont include the DLC content in game first, this is happening in GRID 2, the car pack you bought cant be used online because majority dont have them and the cars dont work with the career mode at single player as well. Worst part is the devs cant sell their DLC and wasted their time working on it.

I wouldn't recommend starting a new game. Once the bug is fixed it will have the opposite effect on a new game and screw the weapons up for it.

Which was my point exactly. :) (see above).
