I think it's safe to say everyone knows what happens with the broken patch, so enough with the "I have it too, this is gone and that is gone." It's very sad it's gone, but it's just an ingame item that can be returned easily, AFTER Volition makes sure it doesn't happen again AND that by returning it, the game doesn't break down. Clearly that is hard to do, or else they would have fixed it already by now. Be glad they don't just throw in a patch that actually makes it worse because they didn't test it enough, or that they don't just say "Guys, sorry, but your old save data is gone. You all have to start a new game."
But for now, DO start a new game as bugs don't seem to be there with a new game and wait until Volition found a way to patch the old save files. The game itself runs fine except the known weapon issues. If you do need a certain weapon to finish a quest, the Friendly Fire Unrestricted mod allows you to buy all weapons (Except the Pre-order ones and DLC ones) ingame so you can do your quest. If you have upgraded the weapon, you will buy it from Friendly Fire WITH the upgrades, so don't worry there. I highly doubt it that one person has co-op problems while the other doesn't. I played SR IV co-op for a couple of hours yesterday after the broken patch and we had fun with the bugged weapons. But if you do want to co-op, just start a new game co-op. That way you can still have fun together while Volition works hard for all of you to fix it, as they have always done.
And please.. don't start with the whining about paying for DLC that doesn't add much... The Cheat DLC, as for the last 2 clothing DLC cost money. It are hard times, but you don't NEED the content. It's just fun. And you know that eventually they come with a pack that is cheap and holds all the DLC. It's not like they kept content out of the game just to make you pay more for it. The game already holds so much clothing.
As for on-disk DLC, that is actually NOT when part of it is already downloaded on your hard disc. On-disk DLC is when they also have it with the main game on the DVD, but have it locked like they did with Mass Effect. Of course it downloads the necesary data for the DLC's with updates onto your hard disk. Or else, when I play with a DLC outfit, and I co-op with someone who doesn't have the DLC, my character would appear naked or his game would crash because of unknown content. But it isn't the full DLC. Just a way to make it work with the other person's game with co-op.
