As a transgender female myself, I like to think of Playa as such, especially as you could only play as male in the first Saints Row, really made me connect with my character when playing through the series.

And, if I remember the geography right, there’s a huge Latino/Asian population within the region so…yeah, you’re gonna see a lot more of those folks than white folks. :v

Your focus on skin color is cringe af
I'm mostly trolling, but is it? I think it's more cringe to give quotas based on skin color. I'm not from the USA, we don't have a mix of cultures and races here, if someone has a different skin color or a different culture they are tourists or new.

That post comes across as incredibly toxic and mean spirited, and plays into straw-mans and internet stereotypes in order to make its point.

I can absolutely understand why people are upset, they mislead older fans prior to the cinematic trailer, what they have shown so far looks incredibly underwhelming, and the characters look unlikable. It's baffling that it tries to use the argument of "cultural relevancy" in a game about a criminal gang and empire, with a stated to focus on drug running. I have never, wanted a game to be "topical", that often correlates with incredibly tone deaf writing that tries to demand that the audience think a specific way, and misses the nuance of complex situations.

Everything stated in the post is speculation that things may not be as bad as people fear, which is what I personally am hoping for, but using that to dismiss concerns and insult and disparage people is reprehensible.

Reddit, Twitter, and Tumblr are all guilty of that. Honestly, they're the cancer of the internet.

Honestly, Saints Row had always been topical. They did the 'bling gangsta' thing because that was cool back then. Then they did the dubstub thing of SRTT and SRIV complete with memes (Kenzie: "Do a barrel roll!") because that was classic back then. So it only makes sense that they would keep with the trend here.

And look, at least we're not seeing Johnny Gat or Default Boss a deranged hermit suckling on a cow teat while bitching about how they want to die, or getting their head bashed in with a golf club by current Boss. xD :p I mean, imagine the outrage then.

Johnny Gat: "Go make yourself a fucking Starbucks. We're done here."
New Boss: "You don't get to say anything." (hits him with a golf club)

or

New Boss: "Johnny, we need you back in the Saints!"
Johnny: *dressed as a hobo sucking on a cow's tit* "Go away! I want to die! The Saints were all horrible!"

I still remember the first Saints Row as the cool gta-like game where you could create your own character.
Then Saints Row 2 happened, improved on that by adding more options. I also liked the story of the protagonist becoming the new boss, rebuilding the gang from scratch.
Saints Row The Third was okay, though I missed some aspects from previous games. Steelport wasn't as likeable and monotone compaired to Stillwater. Also less clothing options, etc .....
Saints Row IV completely went of track in my book. Honestly I never succeeded in finishing the game. I didn't even play Gat From Hell.

So when I heard news of a Saints Row reboot, probably releasing within a year (not focussing too hard at the current release date), I must admit that I was overjoyed with it. It looks like a promising game at first sight, so I am curious to see more of it in the future.

I’m excited. Hopefully they’ve littered the landscape with cool secrets.
And I also like that thought. Here's hoping ;)

(edit: corrected a typo)
