Volition really should do an interview with us. We're the only ones who would ask the real questions that people want answers to. ;)

No. Nooooooooo. SR3's DLC scheme was a nauseating cash-grab that added no value to the game. If they're planning to bring back horseshit like cheat code DLC and clothing packs that look like they were thrown together over some intern's lunch break, I'm going to reconsider buying this game.

Or, you know, just not buy the dlc that you don't like. Get a grip.

"The other day I was playing the build, I was supposed to be reviewing dialogue in different missions, right? I'm on this path, and I stop and go 'oh there's this open world thing I want to go and do!' It's four hours later, I've only played three missions in like four hours. It just pulls you in with all this open world content for you to explore and do, and there's so much of it."

An example Steve gave me about the increase in content was on the amount of collectables in the game, and it sounds like that alone will keep players busy for a long time.

One of the developers that Steve works with "brought up a picture of [Saint Row IV's] map and said 'listen, here's all the collectables in the game.' You couldn't see the map! There's so much for people to go explore, find, to do, to unlock, and to play. It's so much more than anything that we've done in any Saints Row game. There's more content in Saints Row IV than any Saints Row game that's come out. I think that we're well past anything that we've done, so I have no concerns whatsoever about amount of content on the disc 'cause there's a ton of it."

Each time I hear something new about this game it continues to remind me of Crackdown. I just wish we'd get some raw game footage soon.

Not much of a SR4 news, but still might be post-wrothy:

As for collectibles and other things scattered across the map, it certainly isn't be a bad idea. Batman Arkham City was literally flooded with Riddler's puzzles. And in that game, those small challenges haven't been even rewarding in terms of appearance/equipment/abilities- something, that SR4 is going to offer (right?). I'm definitely looking forward for extra info.

Maybe I'm just cynical, or pessimistic in the "chances of..." department in my head, but his use of the word "collectibles", makes me imagine this:

Developers: "Hey, you know the collecting of the sex dolls and palettes of money and photo-ops that you loved so much?"
Me: "Uh, no, not really. I remember those things as being tedious and only a way for me to get a quick $1,000 to buy ammo, though."
Devs: "But weren't they fun? I mean, you'd get to have your picture taken!"
Me: "Yes. True, finding a fan photo-op meant an animation occurred, but it was the same one, EVERY time, with the same already repetitive at this point of the game, generic pedestrian-conversation audio. Which I then had to do time, after time, after time, after time, to the point where I just shot fuckers for the money, which then itself lost its fun, and when that happens, a lot of the game loses its appeal."
Devs: "But...what if they were different items that you had to find, which had no animations, sound, cutscenes, or unique qualities, like...um...hold on...Ooh! Shivering, dying heroin addicts!"
Me: "That'd just be the same, but multiplied, and a little...too dark to be funny. At least, when repeated sooooo damn much."
Devs: "Well if you don't like it don't buy it, fag!"
Me: "Whoa! Why the gay slur, dude? It's 2013! Look, I'm sorry I'm not too fond of that aspect of the game, alright?"
Devs: "Well, how much does it bother you, exactly?"
Me: "If I'm being honest, quite a bit."
Devs: "And how much is 'quite a bit'?"
Me: "Enough for me to format all the character identifiers before each line of text in this fake conversation's transcription that I typed up, one-by-one."
Devs: "Well, that's—"
Me: "That's it! I'm coloring it now. Happy now? ARE YA? THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS! THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!"
