SPOILERS Things that could be improved for the next installment

Personally?

I miss layered clothing.

As for new things? well, lets see what GTA V does right and then we'll talk. A Genki's "Tennis Loving-Kindness Tournament Challenge" with explosive tennis balls would be right up my alley.

Also: add player height customization and ridiculous penis physics as those seen in the indie game "Mount your Friends".

Did anyone realize that SR4 has like 6 or 7 different types of Mayhem? I'm not hating on SR4 because I like playing it, but damn that is LAZY. Was it so hard to have some originality instead of plastering the game all over with mayhem because they couldn't be bothered to do anything else?

I don't believe the "coding nightmare" excuse they gave for not putting activities like "crowd control" or "fuzz" back either. If they did it for SR2 they could do it for the new engine too. After re-playing SR2 these last few days and seeing how much more variety of everything is there, I was starting to wonder if the "coding nightmare" thing was a translation for "we don't want to make an effort into doing something incredibly fun because it takes time", which is the whole point of making videogames at all.

That Tank and Stomp mayhem should've been easily removed ! Why not putting Fuzz instead, with superpowered targets ? Why not Demolition derby? Why not Crowd Control like you said, with superpowered targets aswell ? I totally agree with you !

I think we can all agree SR2 is the peak of the series in terms of content, but I can't really say its the absolute best ever anymore. Its just not held up with time, and don't get me wrong, I love it... but sweet Jesus is that a game racked with bugs and bad controls and just generally chuggy gameplay. Saints Row 3 brought really stream lined and smooth controls to the table that made combat infinitely more functional and fast, and while we don't get Freckle Bitch's burgers and bongs, we get a hot key for grenades.

That said, you'd be surprised how easily something can turn into a literal nightmare on programming anything. Its not like they could just port over the system of how it works into an entirely new engine. I love Fuzz, I love layered clothing, but I also have to state... we should be happy Saints Row has remained even remotely intact after a certain bankrupt company's meddling and downsizing of assets. Saints Row 2 is a glorious game that manages to balance all aspects, and Saints Row 4 tosses it all to the wind for the sake of fun... and... I'm ok with that.

There's no excuse for not doing what you love out of lazyness, please don't endorse it under any circumstance. They could have done it, they just chose not to because they thought it wasn't worth it. That, to me, is horrible.

I still respect them, and I like SR4, but I'm not a drone, I *know* what they did was wrong, it still is. I guess I'll just have to comprise because the game's still ok, but I will never stop thinking they're not doing their best. Do you really think a bunch of different types of the same activity is the best? I hope not.

I'm not intending to be rude, so if it sounds like that, my apologies.

But "knowing" something means you can provide verifiable arguments and proof. Are you a coder/programmer who has in depth experience with various gaming engines and from that experience know that you can easily transfer code from one engine to another without having to make considerable changes?
I am no programmer, so I really don't know and if you are then I will give your statements due credibility. But considering the nightmares I've gone through just with Office Excel when my company merely changed the standard language pack and went to the .xlsx office versions (formulas changing names and not automatically translating, dots and commas getting a whole different function), I can imagine it being an exponential nightmare to get aspects from one engine to another.

Who's talking about transfering code from one game to another? If they coded Fuzz and other stuff for SR2, they can code them again.

True, but that is assuming that the code is either the same or very simple to begin with.
In an engine anything can affect everything and it doesn't always have to make sense for something to cause problems in there (sometimes fixing it makes even less sense).

But perhaps (just thinking of this now) they didn't do it because it wasn't done in SRTT and with only about 2 years between them they didn't have the time to also develop and fully test these activities next to what has been added already?

You're a coder/and or programmer right? No? Hmm, bold that you say they could have done it.

I agree with you actually. I loved SR 2 and 3 but SR4 felt, I don't know... half assed? It feels like a watered down SRTT but with far less "love".
