DLC Opinions?

So, what're peoples thoughts on the new DLC, notably the Saints in Space? (And the Genkibowl too I suppose). I'm trying to get a feel for how much it adds... because as it stands the DLC themselves are $7, and the season pass for all three is $20 making a whopping saving of.... one dollar. Woo. (Unless it includes more sub-DLCs I don't care about). I'm probably not gonna get Genkibowl considering the reviews are rather mixed, but what about this new one? Is it fun? Is it new fresh missions or just more of the same as the rest of the game? Anything to make it stand out or just another bit more of Saints Row 3 akin to say the end mission?
And of course when the third DLC is finally out I guess I'll see opinions on it too.

It all boils down to your own standards of quality content for a given game. I've been spoiled by the likes of Borderlands and Fallout mission packs, so what SR3 has on offer feels like it gives to little (plus all that V-hype), but....

Genkibowl is actually a very solid piece of content (pretty good unlockables too), since it's all activities instead of linear checkpoint-to-checkpoint missions. Its only problem, in my opinion, is that there's only 2 instances of each activity. I'd love me some more Yarnie mayhem (there's always freeplay, yes, but I want mascot killing too).

Gangstas is less than an hour long (way too short), but I did like the Boss's super narm-y acting. If you're in for some laughs, Gangstas is good, if you want a grand and possibly serious narrative, then - not so much. It does have an ultra pimp mind control hat, though - that's always a plus.

In the end, don't expect something big and don't let the hype guide you, and you'll be fine. It's more of the same, but without the drama. If you still grief about how SRTT is not like SR2, and SR2 is better in every possible way, and all that, then avoid the DLC.

Just pretty much what Encogen said, except I didn't even buy any of that DLC.
I based my decision to avoid after waiting for the release , Volitions description of the DLC, and subsequent
forum chatter about the content (on the official site).
One tip, if on the undecided side. Look for Youtube vids, of course that can be spoiler too.

Of the 'big' DLC I suppose Genkibowl is the more attractive of the two and I'll may bite
on that at some point, mainly due to the generous ability of modders to rig for replay and other features.
But, overall, I see no value to the way I replay the game. Honestly, I get more shits n giggles
out of just starting fights with one of the stronger gangs, Luchradors usually, and slugging it out
on the streets, and with the benifit of various mods to improve the game for me.
Oh, on Gangs in space. It was a total turn off to me on description alone.
When I recently read of the 'Blood Pack' a string of vial profanity escaped my lips, and I
flung poo at the screen. Messy.

If Volition would enable cell calls for gang activity for 'end game' playas and maybe offer a beef up pack
for the weaker gangs (Deckers and Morningstar) I'd go for that over anything they have done to date, besides
the great base game.
If I'm not mistaken, that may arrive soon in PC mod form. Yehaa.

Being a experienced gamer of many years I knew instinctually from the outset that any 'DLC Season Ticket'
offer would be wise to avoid. Glad to see my jaded instincts were right, once again.

I'm rather severe in policy when it comes to things like this. As much as I want Volition to succeed
and all, and hope for a better sr4 in the future, I will not subsidize what I view as substandard offerings.
It is my firm belief that doing so only encourages such behavior in the future, the opposite of what I want.
The fact it is 7 dollars or so a pop means nothing to me as I'd spend more on my monthly fee on flea dip.

Same thing as Uzi, for me. For dlc's i always wait to see comments, vidz, more knowledge and till now i was always right in not buying sr3 dlc: not for the prices, but because they add nothing i care to my game.
I don't understand why volition don't take more, more time to pack a bigger dlc, with lots of clothes, weapons, vehicles, a new store maybe. They acting stupid.

Lot of people seem to place blame on Volition and Volition only.
If anything, marketing is done by THQ, and what goes into particular DLC and how much time developers are given to create it is the bigwigs' call as well. Space Marine, whose devs are also owned by THQ, makes use of a similar "bite-size" DLC scheme.

Hey, at least it's not Mass Effect 3, that gives you a different DLC pack with each roll of ME-branded toilet paper.

In my opinion, this is DLC done right. None of it is part of the core game experience, but just more fun fluff and non-story related. It was absolutely not stripped out of the main game, which is my big issue with other companies like ubisoft and the prince of persia game where they chopped off the ending and sold it as dlc.

Also, I'm grateful that the PC actually got the DLC this time. Don't forget that the SR2 port totally got the shaft. At least now we all get to choose if we want to spend our money on it.

Plus, I've really enjoyed every single bit of DLC that's come out with two exceptions:
Bloodsucker Pack - How the hell could they possibly think that permanently removing the neck snap was a good idea.
Invincible Pack - Paying for cheat codes is total and complete bullshit

Hm, the reason I'm asking is I wasn't sure how much you get.. the fact is I ignore the fluff DLCs they have for the game, because really there is nothing added. I mean, sure a neat gun and vehicle is cool. What is NOT cool is paying $2 for it. While on the one hand I'm glad they're not going the route of others to make the story resolution and ending a DLC (Square pulled that one too I heard, and EA is doing the same with ME3) on the other hand, when they do have something I'm ok with paying for it as a sort of a sub-expansion pack. Does Gangas In Space actually add anything story related to the game, or is this side-mission material at best akin to what Genki was? Because if they do a proper resolution of some of the stuff (like Gat) then I'd be ok paying a bit of cash for it.. but I'm quite ok with the game as is, and more than confident at the rate the game is being poked and prodded we'll end up figuring the important secrets like mission crafting, tweaking bugs it has (Volition never could fix the helicopter customization? Been there done that!), and so on.. moreso map adding/editing and models. Sure that's high pie in the sky dreams but even the stuff that's come out is a fun way to do those extra bits and squeeze playtime out of my game.

So the big reason I made the thread is to get opinions on the DLCs, and to see if they do finally start moving the story (like the DLCs for SR2 did, except we couldn't get them on PC so I've never played them either)

My biggest complaint with the two large DLC packs is that both of them don't add any new gameplay. All the missions in Genki Bowl were just slight variations on existing activities, not to mention being very short lived. Gangsters in Space had the same problem. All the missions were just things that you had done hundreds of times before in the SR3 campaign. Vehicle turret sections? Boring. Walking around in narrow corridors shooting dudes? Done it a million times before. The final mission was the same deal, it played out almost exactly the same as the VTOL section from "convoy decoy".
