WTF, lucky bastard! I still have to wait 18 hours :/ (can't get to the midnight release and back home). I can't wait. Really gonna skip a day of school to play this one :D
As opposed to the extremely arcade handling Saints Row has always been plagued with?

This just reeks of reaching for things to complain about. The cars don't fall apart when you hit a fence, quel horreur! Talk about gamer entitlement.

San Andreas had fucking car customization in 2004, a full two years before the first SR. Try again mate.

The gunplay is modeled after Max Payne 3, I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you never played that due to your obvious fanboyism. It was sublime, by the way.

What does this even mean, I understand you are implying it's subpar to SR again but I just don't get how someone can be so obtuse.

Coming from someone who has not played the game, based on conjecture and bias. Maybe chucking some homoerotic aliens in there will make it more suited to your refined video game palette? I joke of course.

If you want to complain about anything in V, complain about the extreme misogyny, racism and overt LGBTQ aggressive humor. At least those complaints have meaning and better the industry.

Just let him be, Darrin Flame. Some people simply never are happy and will always find things to complain about. If they don't, they come up with things to hate on, simple as that. Just let him have his moment, while we enjoy this great game ;)

Oh look IGN gave it a 10/10, and not a week before it's release like the 7.3/10 they gave Saints Row IV, ain't that convenient for you Rockstar...

As usual, only Escapist don't have their heads in the clouds Rockstar's pocket.
over the weekend IGN AU released a video of the "top 5 reasons next-gen can wait", all of them GTA5, and they took a shot at SR4 with it as well.

Between that and the entire week of fellatio (I'm sorry, "coverage"), if there's one outlet that was paid off by Rockstar, it's definitely IGN

i actually thought the damage in gta 5 is really good and a step up from gta 4in 4 i could crash my car alot and it would still drive fine in 5 i crashed once hard an the front wheel was locked up as well as the side panel falling off and i have crashed an rolled about 6 times in a row an parts flew off the car the roof caved in etc i thought it looked good.... i am loving gta 5 atm and im not even doing much story just driving around looking at stuff.

I never look to the main reviewer sites to review a game i stick with angry joe lol.. just look at rome total war 2 getting 9 outta 10s everywhere i pre ordered that game an its completely fucked. he gave it 6

I've clocked up a few hours on this and so far I'm quite impressed, the car handling is better than GTA4s shopping trolleys, the gunplay is far better with a cover system that actually works and the interaction between the characters is good. Graphically it's impressive when you consider what it's running on but anyone who says it looks next gen is talking out of their arse, there must be a PC version running somewhere because that's what they must of used for the promotional videos and screenshots, they sure didn't come from what I've been playing.

I never said Saints Row's driving was any better, so I don't know why you're throwing that in my face, but now that you mention it, Saints Row never emphasized on cars. GTA does, or... should, whatever. Hence the title and the reason why Rockstar should make mind-blowing driving mechanics.

No instead they get a tiny, barely visible scratch when you crash head-on into a roadblock.

Again, I didn't compare it to Saints Row, you constantly shoving that in my face only shows what a fanboy you are. GTA V's car customization just feels generally lazy. The customization garage is called "Los Santos Customs" which I assume is a parody of West Coast Customs, yet you can only customize cars with the same basic crap you can get at any body shop. That and armor.

Mine? I didn't even mention Saints Row, which you keep referring to, yet I'm the fanboy somehow...

Anyway, difficult task, but check my Steam account. Profile > Games > Max Payne 3.

What does this even mean, I understand you are implying it's subpar to SR again but I just don't get how someone can be so obtuse.

I never mentioned Saints Row, with the exception of my first reply, in which I was criticizing IGN and their corruptibility, not comparing GTA and Saints Row. Make things personal if it makes you feel better, but that won't change the fact that Rockstar made another over-rated game.

Sorry I forgot to laugh, I'm used to laughing only when the jokes are funny and not stupid.

If you want to complain about anything in V, complain about the extreme misogyny, racism and overt LGBTQ aggressive humor. At least those complaints have meaning and better the industry.

What I don't understand is why you are here if you hate Volition and Saints Row so much... the only reason I can think of is that you're looking to troll. Well, mission accomplished.

i noticed something randomly pressing Right arrow on the joystick he says hey to people and sometimes you can have a conversation with random pedestrians lol

Kids, play nice.

Now that it's come out somewhat.. do PS3/360 reviewers on the net ALWAYS give overinflated 5 star 100% reviews? Or is this just an example of R* strong-arming them? Because I don't care if your game is the third coming of the video-game messiah, everyone giving out perfect scores implies there's a PROBLEM. Not that it's a great game, no, it implies there's severe problems and the marketing/publicity team enforced high scores lest the reviewers not get any more press-release copies for free (which IS a tactic used, and works as well as you'd expect, notably sadly well)

I'm serious. The more 'perfect' or stupidly high scores on a game I see with no variation, the more I worry what's wrong with the game. I mean, sure it's just come out and the more legitimate review sites are still playing the game, but it's really worrying to see that... it implies a hell of a push for high scores to cover up the faults.

And no, I don't care if you've played the game. If you can write straight-faced that it deserves a perfect score, you're either running on the reviewer score of 75-100% (just add about 50% to any given score, cap at 100%) or you are REALLY deluding yourself. Seriously, I see fanboys going "It deserves 6 stars!" everywhere. That means they're not paying attention to faults. Is it a good game? Probably, not that I'll care because I have at least 2 years before it sees a PC release, if at all, considering R*'s opinion of them.
Is it a perfect game?

everyone giving out perfect scores implies there's a PROBLEM.
That may or may not be true, but it isn't the case here, anyway. Certainly not everyone has given it a perfect score. That may have been true when only a few reviews were published, but not as of yesterday afternoon.

Well, yes, understanding and following an industry standard has its benefits. You may consider any game below a 75 a failure; that's your choice, and you're welcome to it. I go as low at 70 for genres i like, and even dip below for something with particularly interesting ideas. Some publications will consider 100 to be "unattainable perfection". Others, like Destructoid, do not, because it makes 100 a meaningless point on the scale. If you want something more standardized, look to Metacritic, which takes these differences into account.

Paid reviewers are part of the industry, they rely on hype as much as the publishers do, it's a symbiotic relationship that doesn't help the consumer at all. What also doesn't help is the fact that a large number of gamers want someone to affirm their opinions, not to inform them. Look at the reaction to The Escapist and Gamespot reviews, both raised perfectly valid concerns yet the authors were torn apart for not being part of the hive mind, what happened to Carolyn Petit at Gamespot was appalling. User reviews are the best source of information, the fanboys and haters are easy enough to filter out leaving genuine opinions.
