SPOILERS My experience with Saints Row IV.

Is it okay we put in questions now? I don't expect you to answer them until the embargo is off.

I would prefer that you wait and post any questions in the actual review thread.

Does it run better than SR3? I remember SR3 has some issues with AMD cards.

See my press preview article where I talk about performance compared to SRTT.

Deep Silver hooked up both Minimaul and myself with keys for the full press version and we've been playing it non-stop the last couple of days. We haven't gotten the review guide yet though, so we're not sure when the embargo lifts. We can't really post anything yet until we know. I will say that it's been absolutely incredible, and the final build is even better than I thought it would be. It's a truly amazing game.

That's a sentence I really needed to hear, although it makes me green with envy. I do hope you can still say the same a month from now, buuuuut considering you've played this game once already, put what, 50-75 hours into the preview build alone, and still think it's amazing? Well, we might have a Saints Row 2 repeat on our hands, I hope. I'll be eagerly awaiting the review, at least that'll come out before my copy does, haha.

Honestly speaking, I thought Saints Row 1 was "meh". Not a bad game, but it was a typical GTA clone. That was its purpose, though. They released Saints Row between the GTA:SA and GTA 4. The thing is, they released Saints Row 2 right after GTA 4, which sucked a lot of the oxygen for Saints Row 2. Saints Row 2 is the superior game when you compare it to Saints Row, but the momentum from GTA4's release stalled the momentum of Saints Row 2. A lot of success for Saints Row was because people were itching for something similar to GTA. It's why they chose to release Saints Row 4 before GTA5. Although they deny it, it is smart move to release it before GTA5, because it would mitigate most of the damage from GTA5's release.

I digress a little bit, but my point is, because they do not have to worry about working with a new engine, and with less publisher interference, they have time to work on the content. Also, because few people complained about the fundamentals (core gameplay mechanics), they only need to do a little bit of reworking there (they added super powers, a part of the new fundamentals), which also allows them to focus on the content. At this point, I think I got a good read on how good SR4 is, even if I don't have the game yet. There's at least enough info out there to tell us about at least 4 to 6 missions of info.

My concern right now would be SR5. It's almost certain to be on the next-gen consoles. Problem is, are they going to use a whole new engine again? Because if they have to do so, I'm going to expect this pattern to repeat itself.

SR1 = Meh, SR2 = Great, SR3 = Meh, SR4 = Good/Great (?, Informed Speculation), SR5 = ???

I've been wanting to preorder SR IV for a while now, just haven't gotten the proper funds to do so (not to mention the summer sale killed my wallet). I may just preorder it now that I got the cash. If the game is as amazing as you've claimed, I want to play this day one.

so Idol, since you and Minimaul have the full game now, is there a chance of some basic mods being ready to go at launch?

We're already discussing that very thing with Volition. I'd say it's pretty much certain there will be a couple of minor tweaks ready to go.

Well, about a few days ago at Comic Con 2013, i was able to get my hands on Saints Row IV. I found that the game was very exiting and fun.Customization is a-lot like SRTT, But there were some definite more options for the character including many easter-eggs from the past, in general it was great . There were some cool items, along with the open world gameplay including the activities. There was a familiar activity when you go and steal cars from SR2,Chop-Shop. it was pretty fun at the most. The vehicle that i had to retrieve was an neon monster truck version of the Bootlegger. After you steal the vehicle, you do get to keep it. also many open world activities that adds alot to the open world experience. Then i almost forgot to mention how the super-powers felt, They were very fluid and use-full when you are in combat in a mission or in the middle of taking over the flashpoints. I also found myself enjoying the open world alot more than SR3. Obtaining data clusters, even the return of on of my favorite activities "Fight Club" were returning with a super power twist, and the new activities will all keep me busy on August 20, I am very exited and thrilled to get my hands on this game once again.

What Easter Eggs?? you mean References with name like the SR2 Maero hair that is Maero´s Hair?? or something like the Big Bunny (but not so stupid i mean easter eggs around the city).

As HugeSaintsRowFan Said, i notice one thing and i think i´m not the first to noticed it...that after 2 episodes (saints row games) they change the engine for example:

Saints row 1 and 2 = same engine (but enhanced in 2)
Saints row 3 and 4 = same engine (but enhanced in 4(?) )
and you can notice BIG engine CHANGES for example with the interval of games (Two Episodes Made --Interval-- new engine and new game)
Take for example saints row 1 and 2 then BIG INTERVAL and 3 and 4 so Waaaaaaaait for saints row 5....
