Saints Row Reboot!

Volition be must feeling a kick to the balls with all the negativity surrounding the trailer, and they probably worked so hard on this title. I got mixed feelings, i'm on a weird spot. I kinda feel sorry for them, but i also feel sad because this is not what i wanted. Well, perhaps they might slap Jhonny Gat with his SR1 and SR2 attitude as a DLC after the game release, but i seriously doubt it. All Modern Entertainment Media seems more worried about offending someone out there than actually disappointing their own fanbase and community.

I hope this game succeeds, otherwise we probably will never see another Saints Row game again... but then again, the old Saints Row are gone forever. But it is what it is. No amount of crying will bring them back with their mean badass attitude.

I edited my comment and removed the part about my love for Volition and Saints Row dying.

But if you read further down, it says that my faith is restored due to the Character Customization and Homies returning.

Not saying that I feel like your comment is aimed at mine or anything. Just after reading your comment, you do make a good point... They did work hard to make this, and the few screenshots we've got prove this.

And it does seem petty to throw a fit over just a few features of a game franchise that has offered so much more over the years. But everyone has those few features they get attached to in a game franchise.

As for Johnny Gat, I just hope his story has come to an end, especially after Gat Outta Hell. I prefer to remember him from his early days in Stilwater. Not the watered down version we got in SRIV & Gat Outta Hell.

So totally agreeing with you overall, but I still stand by my love of Character Customization, Cribs, and Homies.

Maybe if the trailer had given us some useful information about the actual gameplay and not just being a cinematic custscene followed by a bunch of gameplay explosions, people would be reacting differently?

To be sure, I didn't even know this was a Saints Row game until the title dropped. The more I see the trailer, the more I get a Johnny Gat vibe from Kevin. It's even the same voice actor. He's like if Johnny Gat and OG Boss had a baby.

Saw the trailer today. So far being disappointed 'cause I don't see any swearing there.

Can one imagine an SR game without the F words?

P.S. Late for the news, but be at peace IdolNinja -- your spirit carries on. Whenever I get back to SR2 one day, you'll be remembered.

Boss: "Hey, asshole! Stay the fuck away from my friends!"

That was at the end of the trailer.

Oh, I missed that -- probably didn't watched it till the end, or just doesn't feel like it's there.

But naah, we'll see how it goes how they handle the characters when the game actually out, or with another trailer [maybe].

It grows on me that a game/story will only as good as the characters that live to it.

This might help explain why some hate this trailer. While I’m looking forward to the game, I feel like I should validate why some are not liking this. Their feelings are just as valid (I know, how woke of me but it’s true.)

THEORY TIME, Pt. II:
If Volition is taking a leaf from Watchdog, it may be possible that we can recruit NPCs into our gang, and in our hideouts, we can select at least three of them to be in our squad. Meaning you could have a gang of old ladies kicking ass. PLUS, if you're not a fan of Kevin, Eli, and Nahee, they can just stay in the hideout.

Anyone else notice the Red Faction-style fist on the Panteros tops?

The more I watch this trailer on repeat, the more I see classic Saints Row in it. Maybe not what's happening in front of our faces. But if you pay attention to everything in the background, you'll see it.

I said from the beginning that I was hoping it would be a nice mix of SR2 & SRTT, and that's exactly what it is.

We have a classic gang, cyber gang, and a private army.

Although this whole city is based in a desert, the environment and structures do appear to have variety between districts. There's nice clean streets, and run down alleys. And possibly a casino strip?

The weapons look really fun and the vehicles give me major Saints Row Classic vibes. The Panteros signature car in this trailer reminds me heavily of the Vegas from Saints Row Classic.

We can all watch this trailer the first time and think "WTF is this sh*t? This is not what we wanted at all!" (Which is exactly what I was thinking), but this is just a CG Trailer. SRTT was nothing like it's CG Trailer, so we've got to reserve judgement until they give us a look at the actual in-game gameplay.

But like I said, the more you watch this trailer and take a look at the surroundings, this game IS Saints Row.

TheBlueGuys: PLUS, if you're not a fan of Kevin, Eli, and Nahee, they can just stay in the hideout.
I personally love Kevin, Eli, and Neenah.

Kevin is just a young cocky energetic Johnny Gat, with a cute Cyber Genki helmet (Which I hope he wears as a Homie during free roam).

Neenah is a badass version of Wheel Woman from Saints Row Classic.

And so far, it seems like Eli is similar to Carlos, in that he wants to prove himself, but lacks the confidence to back him up.

I can't wait to see who else we'll be recruiting to the Saints, but these three are my main crew.

Does it really matter if we leave them in the hideout though? Since the story and themes would literally revolve around them and you'd see them in every cutscene and main story mission. Yeah we may be able to recruit people like you said, but it wouldn't really have much of an impact on the story in any meaningful way, if we go by the older games homies system.
