Why i hate the saints row fanbase. (rant)

DISCLAIMER: this is against the various youtube comments I see. In no way am I bashing anyone on the forums... because to me, the forum is a LOT tamer than youtube. sr2 is an awesome game. I just like Sr4 more.

Youtube comments depress me. They really do. I go on a review of Saints Row 4.... I see the positive review (which I agree with)... but then I see the comments section. It's the same old "MAKE IT MORE LIKE SAINTS ROW TWO!! I HATE FUN AND SILLYNESS!!1" or some variation of it. And that depresses me. Because Saints Row 2... while a good game... hasn't... aged well.

Yeah. I said it. Now, Don't misunderstand me. Sr2 is fucking awesome and what have you. But so was Zelda Ocarina of Time. and Neither have particularly aged.... well. Let me explain.

Ok... so SR2 has better customization? Gee, That's great. only problem.... the character models.... don't look... right. And that's and understatement. They look fucking ugly as sin. AND THE FACES THEY MAKE...... oooh boy. None of the expressions look right....some variation on "IM GOING TO POOP MY PANTS!!!" This does NOT seem like the "baddass boss" I have been told about. In later games, they have less options in some areas, sure... but they LOOK much, much better. Besides, there are actually MORE options in other areas. I made a golden, bloody, pupilless demon-man. Can you do THAT in saints row 2?

Oh. And don't get me started on the CONTROLS. DAMN are they awkward. Maybe it's because I use a keyboard and mouse.... but again, in Saints Row 3 and 4..... the controls work just fine. Where to begin.... let's start with the mouse itself. Left button fires... good... good....BUT WHATS THIS?!?!? Right-click should be FINE AIM... not SECONDARY FIRE..... Secondary fire is q.... and I don't remember being able to rebind them. And the driving... OHHH the driving. Saints Row 3 and 4 had decent driving controls. I felt like I was in control. NOT the case in SAINTS ROW 2. It feels like I'm on ice. like... all the time. I don't know if its the ports problem or something else (even Idolninja couldn't really fix this) But for the most part I was on foot in sr2.

The only thing Sr2 does better than Sr4.....The city. I won't lie. the city of stillwater is an awesome place to wreck. Why didn't we at least get a new city in Sr4?

Ok..... heres what REALLY gets under my skin though. How do I put this..... most of the detractors of Saints Row 4.... I DOUBT have played it enough. I mean... the boss is STILL the same baddass..... I mean.... YOU GOT SUPERPOWERS for craps sake! How is that NOT baddass? It also has plenty of callbacks to Sr1 and 2.....so why do people hate it? I mean... I understand if you don't like something but... give it a chance.....just because its different in tone doesn't mean it isnt awesome. But no... the majority of people I see on youtube are blinded by nostalgia.... Like to the point of where if it looks different they call it shit. and that pisses me off!!! They want more of the same instead of something new and exciting while still being in the same genre. They almost sound like they should play Call of duty. Like..... it pisses me off.

Ok... Rant over... >w<
Stick to your guns volition. NEVER change for anyone.

On a more serious note, SR3 had probably the sweetest graphics for an open-world game when it was released back in '11 (except for Sleeping Dogs). I fell in love with the SR series with SR3, first. Played SR4, and then 2. And I too, think, that SR1 and 2 suck on graphics front. Know that humans have a strong emotion of nostalgia in them. In a parallel universe, if you swap the features and stories of SR1 and SR4 (NOT the graphics), they would still whine about how SR4 sucks, and how much they vouch for SR2 (actually this world's SR4) features.

Personally, I'd rather mind my own business. YT comments section has always been reigned by retarded punks behind monitors who try real hard to be smartasses. Every game has its own advantages and disadvantages. I got into SR series because of SR3, doesn't mean I'll start hating on SR4. Sure, SR4, IMO, went way too overboard with the story, but it had its own pluses which the rest of the installments will never have. Like the improved Shaundi... and her almost more-than-I'm-comfortable-with seductively revealing costume.

^ this is why i love this forum. we can all be mature about this sort of thing. I myself started with 2.... but after 4 i find the series really hitting its stride. a lot of these anti-sr4 punks i see are standing in the way of a series thats evolving.
i mean... sure, the tone is different. but its still an open world game. a fun one at that.
i feel like if the series started goofy and then went to serious people would complain too.
never change for anyone volition. stick to your guns, and take risks.

I'm afraid, with DS stepping in, they may have to change. DS fired the Dead Island dev as well. They make calls around here. And I don't like the way they're maintaining silence on the future of the SR series.

long as they dont do something stupid like release saints row city simulator and keep the franchise as an open world game, were golden.

I was implicating the death of the series, actually. But even if they keep it going, they don't have much to go on really. With opening such a broad array of choices to players in GoH, they can't just ignore the player's decision made in GoH's final moments like they did with SR3's. The only option, as I see, before them now is to reboot. With or without the current crew.

Maybe it could be like KOTORII and you get to choose which ending you chose in Goh and continue the story from there,

Yes, the characters models in Saints Row 3 and up are a HUGE improvement over Saints Row 2! Much better character models (their elbows don't look like a a bent drinking straw like they did in 2), and better motion capture, and, as you mentioned, better facial expressions too. And, honestly, I still like the Saints Row 3+ characters models better than the Grand Theft Auto series, which everyone seems to rave about. The cloth and hair simulation are beautiful!

I absolutely agree with that. The main reason I ever go back to Saints Row 2 is that big beautiful modern city, which is just such a joy to roam around in! And I love all the big indoor spaces and underground caves.

But, although Steelport is not as pretty, I do appreciate the realism which was a big improvement over Saints Row 2. The reflections of those big lighted billboards reflecting off the wet road at night is amazing! Saints Row 3 feels like you're in a real city at night. And, even though Saints Row 4 doesn't have many interesting places to roam, I do enjoy 50's Steelport and The North Pole DLC thanks to IdolNinja's Sandbox+. Too bad those weren't available during free roam by default. And I have to add that Volition did a great job building a very interesting location for Gat Out Of Hell! The location was actually more than I expected -- especially for a stand-alone add-on! I was actually very surprised and impressed with the city they built there, with all it's very different sections.
